Discovering Chaumont-Gistoux

Chaumont-Gistoux, like many places in Walloon Brabant, is full of small paths and trails connecting the villages, hamlets and neighbourhoods of the area. This is one of the highlights of the walk.

Description of the walk

(S/E) Starting from the hamlet of La Place (next to Vieusart Castle), the route reaches the hamlet of La Commone via the Voie de Hurtebise.
After the Sentier de la Taille aux Frênes, the route enters a pasture and joins the small inter-village road to take you to Dion-le-Mont.
A few village streets and paths further on, the route crosses the Chaussée de Huy (1), passes behind a farm converted into stables and joins the Haras de la Ferme Rouge in Bas-Bonlez.
Then head towards the Ferme du Fort à Voiles (and its fish farms below).
(2) Turn right and pass between the Bois de Glabais and Bois de Bonlez woods until you reach the Glabais stream, which you leave behind to head back up towards the countryside via the Sentier de la Grange du Sart trail.
Then head towards the Bruyères district, the Clos des Genêts, the Pré Delcourt and the Château d'Eau housing estate.
On the way back, the walk passes successively along a nature reserve (a former quarry), Bloquia, Ocquière and then returns to the starting point via the Voie de La Place.

What a wonderful discovery this hike was, introducing me to this region also known as the Brabant Ardennes.
Woods, meadows, picturesque villages.
A great sense of serenity and tranquillity in this beautiful landscape
I always use my Visorando app and haven't had any problems.
Thank you for this wonderful experience!
