Description

Start: The Forest of the Falls Café, Arran Island (KA27 8SF) Grid Ref. NS 019 217

(S/E) From the car park, face the café and turn right to find a path going along the right side of the café. The path goes past a pond on your left.

(1) After 150m at a Y-junction keep right downhill (on your left you can take a detour to a viewpoint). Walk along switchbacks down to a stream. Cross the burn via the wooden footbridge.

(2) At a T-junction go left up the hill. On the way, you can enjoy views of the burn. Then turn right up hill to reach another junction.

(3) At the Y-junction turn left uphill into woodlands and ferns. After 260m, go past a 'Freedom bar and art' then keep walking along the main path as it curves North-East.

(4) You reach a junction where you can make a little detour left to an "Eco-Library". It is worth having a look! Otherwise, keep straight.

(5) After 100m, cross a wooden bridge then reach a junction with a cairn. Here you can make a detour right to visit Loch Garbad (1 mile). Otherwise, turn left. Walk 70m to go past a picnic table and benches at an amazing viewpoint! Then, keep walking South back to the café. On the way, enjoy a second viewing platform on your left as you go downhill. (S/E)
