Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 53 m
  2. 1 : km 0.05 - alt. 56 m - From the carpark, take the road to the left and then the road going up the steep hill to the right. Continue upwards along the road.
  3. 2 : km 0.42 - alt. 85 m - Near to the houses before the wood, take the snicket on the left (next to the domestic garage).
  4. 3 : km 0.48 - alt. 85 m - Turn right on to the stone track leading to Blue Hill wood. Once at the wood, take the stone track on the right (through the wooden gates).
  5. 4 : km 0.68 - alt. 122 m - Take the vague track that leads up through the woods. There is a quarry on the right (with a wooden fence to stop you falling in).
  6. 5 : km 0.84 - alt. 165 m - Go through the gate giving access to the fell and take the well worn track going upwards and along the hillside.
  7. 6 : km 1.33 - alt. 210 m - Go through the iron gate giving access to the wood (n.b. you can't see it until you are close to it). Then follow the obvious track that contours along the hillside through the wood. It undulates a bit. Don't take any track that goes steeply upwards or downwards.
  8. 7 : km 1.99 - alt. 202 m - The track joins an obvious stone track. Follow this. Go through the farmyards and follow the road on the other side.
  9. 8 : km 2.48 - alt. 188 m - Follow the fingerpost on the grass track towards Low Wood Hotel. There is a subsequent lack of signage, but the track is obvious.
  10. 9 : km 3.32 - alt. 73 m - Turn left at the last stone wall before the Low Wood hotel and head towards the woods.
  11. 10 : km 3.5 - alt. 77 m - Follow the track into the woods, cross the bridge and continue until reaching the road. Turn left at the road.
  12. 11 : km 4.04 - alt. 113 m - I either missed or didn't see the signage for the path to the right. This footpath would provide a handy shortcut.
  13. 12 : km 4.78 - alt. 157 m - Head down the obvious stone lane.
  14. 13 : km 6.1 - alt. 60 m - It is probably safer to cross the busy road and use the pavement on the other side.
  15. 14 : km 6.29 - alt. 56 m - Take the signed track to Wain Lane.
  16. 15 : km 7.93 - alt. 168 m - Just before the house, take the obvious stone track up to Robin Lane.
  17. 16 : km 8.44 - alt. 230 m - Follow Robin Lane back towards Ambleside.
  18. 17 : km 9.63 - alt. 191 m - Follow the road back towards the farm that you went through on the outwards journey. Go through the farm and continue along the track.
  19. 18 : km 10.17 - alt. 198 m - Rather than return on the track through the woods as used on the outward journey, continue along the obvious stone track towards Jenkins Crag.
  20. 19 : km 10.81 - alt. 137 m - Follow the obvious track that heads down through the woods in a north westwards direction. This eventually leads to a country lane.
  21. 20 : km 11.07 - alt. 105 m - Follow the country lanes towards Ambleside.
  22. 21 : km 11.73 - alt. 57 m - Turn right at the road and this leads to the carpark.
  23. S/E : km 11.84 - alt. 53 m
