Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 43 m - Leave the station via the Portsmouth bound platform 2 and walk forward along the station access road.
  2. 2 : km 0.05 - alt. 43 m - At the end of the station access road, turn left onto Summers Road. (If you want some refreshment before starting your walk, Farncombe cafes and shops are close by on your right.) - Refreshment point
  3. 3 : km 0.27 - alt. 41 m - Keep forward on Summers Road (ignoring the turn to the level-crossing on your left.)
  4. 4 : km 0.35 - alt. 41 m - Look out for the entrance to the park on your right and turn in here, through the car-park next to the cricket club and continue forward keeping the boundary of the park on your right.
  5. 5 : km 0.57 - alt. 40 m - Cross the small car-park and continue forward down the footpath.
  6. 6 : km 0.65 - alt. 40 m - What was once a rubbish tip and then a golf course is now gradually 'rewilding'. At the edge of the woodland, bear right.
  7. 7 : km 0.69 - alt. 39 m - Bear right to follow the path towards and then alongside the concrete wall.
  8. 8 : km 0.91 - alt. 36 m - Cross the road (there is a central refuge just to your right) and then turn left along the pavement on the other side of Meadrow.
  9. 9 : km 1 - alt. 36 m - In a short distance, turn right between the gateposts into the driveway marked 'Cobwebs' and 'Bunkers Hill Farm'. (The 'Manor Inn' pub is a short distance further along Meadrow on your right if you want a refreshment break.) - Refreshment point
  10. 10 : km 1.1 - alt. 35 m - Continue forward over the river bridge.
  11. 11 : km 1.5 - alt. 38 m - Ignore a footpath and the entrance to 'Bunkers Hill Farm' on your left and continue forward up the hill for a short way further.
  12. 12 : km 1.55 - alt. 42 m - At the cross paths, turn left. (You may not see the left turn until you are right on top of it.)
  13. 13 : km 1.96 - alt. 74 m - Turn left.
  14. 14 : km 2.75 - alt. 83 m - Continue up the hill, keeping to the main path, until you reach a road. Cross the road and continue forward down the path next to the post-box.
  15. 15 : km 3.36 - alt. 79 m - Continue forward beside the golf course until the houses and their gardens on your right come to an end. After a further 70 yards or so, turn right through a narrow gap in the hedge. This gives onto a small path which may not be shown on some maps. (If you want to shorten the walk by about a mile, instead of turning left continue forward and pick up the walk again at point 27.)
  16. 16 : km 3.4 - alt. 78 m - Cross the field and then down the hill. (The paths here may change their route slightly. Keep generally to the left of the field.)
  17. 17 : km 3.68 - alt. 60 m - Towards the bottom of the slope, veer left and continue down.
  18. 18 : km 3.72 - alt. 53 m - At the road, pass beside the gate and turn slight left (Snowdenham Lane.)
  19. 19 : km 3.82 - alt. 53 m - Continue down the hill for a short while and look out for brick gateposts on your right. Take the path between these down a short flight of steps.
  20. 20 : km 3.89 - alt. 41 m - There is a seat by the lake if you wish to take a rest. - Seat
  21. 21 : km 4.22 - alt. 40 m - Turn left along Bramley's main street
  22. 22 : km 4.32 - alt. 39 m - There is a seat in a sunny, south-facing spot on the other side of the road just past the light-controlled pedestrian-crossing. - Seat
  23. 23 : km 4.37 - alt. 38 m - If you want to take a break, Bramley provides two pubs, a cafe and a variety of small shops including a supermarket. - Refreshment point
  24. 24 : km 4.52 - alt. 40 m - Continue forward along the Horsham Road. This is a busy A road (apologies!) but there is a good pavement and you will soon turn off onto quieter paths once more. (There are several seats just before you get to the roundabout.) - Seats
  25. 25 : km 4.68 - alt. 42 m - Eventually, where the roadside path runs out, turn left onto Clock House Lane.
  26. 26 : km 4.93 - alt. 52 m - Continue forward up the footpath. There is a steady assent for several hundred yards.
  27. 27 : km 5.14 - alt. 78 m - Look out for the path on your right that gives access to the golf course. Turn right.
  28. 28 : km 5.17 - alt. 78 m - The pathway across the golf course is marked out with posts painted pale-blue at the top (which may look white from a distance.) At one point, you will need to cross the fairway to your right to find a track descending through the woodland.
  29. 29 : km 5.45 - alt. 70 m - Descend along the track and keep forward through the golf club maintenance area and then its car park. Head for the golf club entrance once it comes into sight.

  31. 31 : km 6.06 - alt. 40 m - Bear left, crossing the road (Foxborough Hill Road) and take the track on your right beside Gosden Farm House.
  32. 32 : km 6.7 - alt. 37 m - At the gate, ignore the entrance to the sewerage works on your left and continue forward for another 60 yards or so.

  34. 34 : km 6.85 - alt. 34 m - Turn right onto Tilthams Corner Road
  35. 35 : km 7.17 - alt. 34 m - You will cross three bridges. The third bridge is controlled by traffic lights. Cross this bridge and turn immediately left onto the navigation tow-path.

  43. 43 : km 8.51 - alt. 40 m - At Summers Road, turn left. (You can walk along the pavement beside the road or follow the boundary hedge just inside the park. There are plenty of access points to move between the two.)
  44. 44 : km 8.8 - alt. 41 m - Continue forward to return to the rail-station.
  45. S/E : km 9.18 - alt. 44 m
