- 1 : km 0.02 - alt. 43 m - Leave the station by the Portsmouth bound platform 2 and turn right along Station Approach.
- 2 : km 0.23 - alt. 44 m - Follow the road round to the left (it becomes Mill Lane) and drop down to cross the mill stream and up the other side. At the main road, cross over and go through the gap in the wall directly in front of you on the other side.
- 3 : km 0.28 - alt. 45 m - Pass the Red Lion pub and turn left along the High Street.

- 4 : km 0.31 - alt. 45 m - Bear right at the old town hall ('The Pepperpot'.)
- 5 : km 0.39 - alt. 45 m - Seat

- 7 : km 0.57 - alt. 44 m - (There are a number of seats in Crown Court to your left.) - Seats
- 8 : km 0.67 - alt. 42 m - At The Sun pub, bear left.

- 11 : km 0.85 - alt. 37 m - Continue to the end of the shops and cross the road (The Burys) towards the former church. Bear to the right and then immediately left, passing the roundabout on your right, and cross the river bridge ahead.
- 12 : km 0.91 - alt. 37 m - Cross the road (Bridge Street) using the refuge on the far side of the roundabout and turn left over the bridge.
- 13 : km 1 - alt. 37 m - Immediately over the bridge, turn sharp right and bear back on your self towards the river. Follow the path between the river and the church.
- 14 : km 1.1 - alt. 36 m - Do not go through the gate but bear right to follow the riverside tow path.
- 15 : km 2 - alt. 35 m - Pass Catteshall Lock, and go through the gate ahead to the road (Catteshall Road.) Turn left along the road.
(There is a cafe at the boathouse by the river on the other side of the road.) - Cafe
- 16 : km 2.2 - alt. 36 m - Cross the road at the light controlled crossing (slightly to your left) then turn along the surfaced footpath (Church Walk) that runs to right of the Leathern Bottle pub. - Pub
- 17 : km 2.55 - alt. 42 m - Cross the road (The Oval/Fern Road) and continue forward along the footpath.
- 18 : km 2.71 - alt. 43 m - Pass St Johns Church on your right and turn right along St John's Street.

- 19 : km 2.76 - alt. 43 m - Almost immediately, bear right and cross Summers Road to find the entrance to the station on the far side.
