  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 44 m
  2. 1 : km 0.04 - alt. 44 m - Leave the station from the London bound platform 1 and turn left along Station Road (unsigned.)
  3. 2 : km 0.16 - alt. 44 m - At the end of Station Road, turn right and up the hill (Farncombe Street). (There is a public toilet on this corner and, if you want some refreshment before setting off, there are cafes and more shops just over the level-crossing to your left.) - Cafes and shops
  4. 3 : km 0.23 - alt. 46 m - Turn first left into Tottenham Road
  5. 4 : km 0.41 - alt. 49 m - Follow the bend of Tottenham Road around to the right and up the hill.
  6. 5 : km 0.46 - alt. 54 m - At the crossroads, cross over to the Cricketers pub and go straight ahead up the hill, keeping to the right-hand pavement of Upper Manor Road. - Pub
  7. 6 : km 0.81 - alt. 59 m - Continue forward over the brow of the hill and down the other side. At the bottom of Upper Manor Road, bear left up Farncombe Hill. (Ignore Woodstock Grove on your immediate left.)
  8. 7 : km 1.05 - alt. 81 m - When the roadside footway comes to an end, turn away from the steps on your left to cross Farncombe Hill and up a disused road to your right.
  9. 8 : km 1.14 - alt. 88 m - Continue up the hill, for about a hundred yards, until the view opens out on your the right. Turn right into the fields and then immediately left along the path broadly following the contour of the hillside.
  10. 9 : km 1.32 - alt. 72 m - Pass the seat and continue forward into the woodland. - Seat
  11. 10 : km 1.42 - alt. 77 m - Bear slightly left at the sign announcing the nature reserve and then continue forward through the woodland. There are two, parallel paths. Choose the one that suites you best depending on the going underfoot (it can be muddy in places.)
  12. 11 : km 1.54 - alt. 70 m - An agricultural field comes into view. Again there is a choice to continue through the fringes of the woodland or to follow the edge of the field.
  13. 12 : km 1.68 - alt. 69 m - If you have stayed within the woodland, look out for a path turning sharp left and heading up the hill. If you have followed the edge of the field, it just past the far hedge, tucked just round the corner on your left. Follow this path up the hill keeping the various fences on your left hand side. (Take your time to find the correct path. The photo will help you.) ,
  14. 13 : km 1.82 - alt. 93 m - Towards the top of the hill, look out for the wall on your left and turn left up a few steps and forward along the footpath to the road.
  15. 14 : km 1.85 - alt. 97 m - At the road, turn left and then immediately right (Woodmancourt.)
  16. 15 : km 1.97 - alt. 98 m - At the end of Woodmancourt, turn right and follow the straight, tree lined residential road (Mark Way) for about 250 yards.
  17. 16 : km 2.21 - alt. 101 m - At the end of the road, continue forward along the footpath directly ahead of you.
  18. 17 : km 2.43 - alt. 100 m - At then end of the fenced path, bear left and left again, following the path through the woodland as it skirts the ridge of the hill.
  19. 18 : km 2.96 - alt. 99 m - At the end of the path, pass to the right of the five bar gate and turn left along the road.
  20. 19 : km 3.04 - alt. 100 m - Continue forward along the road (Mark Way.)
  21. 20 : km 3.13 - alt. 98 m - Cross the road (Priorsfield Road) and continue forward along the bridleway. (This road is often busy. Take care as you cross.)
  22. 21 : km 3.29 - alt. 93 m - Cross the road (Hurtmore Road) and continue forward along the bridleway. (This road is often busy. Take care as you cross.)
  23. 22 : km 3.56 - alt. 72 m - At the track, turn left down the hill.
  24. 23 : km 4.02 - alt. 48 m - At the junction, turn left.
  25. 24 : km 4.11 - alt. 48 m - Bear left beside the property, to follow the footpath.
  26. 25 : km 4.32 - alt. 44 m - The pathway is initially good and is well used but becomes narrow and uneven in places. Some sections can be muddy in wet weather.
  27. 26 : km 4.83 - alt. 46 m - Follow the path until you reach the end of a road (Peperharow Road.) Turn immediately right to follow the path down the hill.
  28. 27 : km 4.92 - alt. 38 m - After crossing a small stream, keep forward, ignoring the path beside the world war two 'pillbox'.
  29. 28 : km 4.94 - alt. 38 m - In a very short distance, bear left to join the riverside path.
  30. 29 : km 5 - alt. 38 m - Keep bearing right to keep the river close by on your right hand side.
  31. 30 : km 5.59 - alt. 37 m - Continue forward to use the wooden footbridge to cross a small side stream.
  32. 31 : km 6.01 - alt. 37 m - Cross the access road and continue forward along the path.
  33. 32 : km 6.08 - alt. 37 m - At the end of the path, turn right and follow Borough Road under the railway.
  34. 33 : km 6.14 - alt. 37 m - As you come out from under the railway, bear right to follow the footpath across the car park.
  35. 34 : km 6.26 - alt. 36 m - Pass just to the left of the buildings and go straight ahead to cross the river via the wooden footbridge.
  36. 35 : km 6.31 - alt. 38 m - Turn left to cross the road and go into the park.
  37. 36 : km 6.42 - alt. 36 m - Bear left to follow the riverside path behind the bowling green clubhouse. (The historic and picturesque town of Godalming is to your right, across the park. There is a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes here and public toilets can be found in Crown Court at the top of the car park.)
  38. 37 : km 7.02 - alt. 37 m - Keep close to the river, passing behind the building (Godalming Library) to reach Bridge Road. Cross the road by the roundabout and turn left and over the bridge.
  39. 38 : km 7.11 - alt. 37 m - Immediately over the bridge, turn sharp right and bear back on your self towards the river. Follow the path between the river and the church.
  40. 39 : km 7.19 - alt. 36 m - Pass through the gate and into the meadow. Turn left to follow the left hand edge of the meadow.
  41. 40 : km 7.99 - alt. 35 m - At the far side of the meadow, go through the gate and turn left into Catteshall Road.
  42. 41 : km 8.08 - alt. 36 m - Cross the road at the light controlled crossing (slightly to your left) then turn along the surfaced footpath (Church Walk) that runs to right of the Leathern Bottle pub. - Pub
  43. 42 : km 8.44 - alt. 42 m - Cross the road (The Oval/Fern Road) and continue forward along the footpath.
  44. 43 : km 8.59 - alt. 43 m - Pass St Johns Church on your right and turn right along St John's Street. (If you want some refreshment, Farncombe cafes and shops are close by on your left.) - Cafes and shops
  45. 44 : km 8.65 - alt. 43 m - Almost immediately, bear right and cross Summers Road to find the entrance to the station on the far side.
  46. S/E : km 8.73 - alt. 43 m
