Wetton Ford/thors Cave Short Hike

This Peak District walk explores The Manifold Valley in Staffordshire. The mostly high-level route is full of interest including Thor's Cave and Throwley Old Hall with magnificent views throughout.

The route lies wholly within Derbyshire although in the latter part of the walk good views into neighbouring Staffordshire are also enjoyed. The route includes much that is typical of this part of the peak district including the village of Biggin and the upper reaches of the Dove Valley.

A short and easy walk through Beresford Dale, which was an inspiration for the book 'The Compleat Angler' by Sir Izaac Walton. It also includes a variety of landscapes of limestone country, including lanes between dry stone walls and upland pasture.
