Nice gravel path through the woods
Forest path
Single gravel path
Two carved bears

Description

Start : Contin car park, Grid Ref. NH459561

(S/E) The walk starts all the way straight ahead at the end of Contin car park. With the toilets in your back, go straight forward towards the single gravel track with two big stones on your left hand at its start. Follow this flat gravel track with Black Water river (behind the trees) on your left-hand side.

At the two next path junctions, keep straight with the river on your left-hand side. The river is your guideline for a while. The path will start to go uphill with some views on your left. Be careful, there are many roots on this single track. When you start to see some steep paths going down to your left, keep straight as they only go to the stream. This stream on your left hand is your guideline until you reach a wide forest track at the top of your hill. Turn right. Ignore side paths and keep an eye as you go straight past a wooden signpost.

(1) Straight after this wooden signpost, search for a hidden single track downhill into the woods on your right. Go right and after a few paces, right again downhill. Be careful, this is a shared path where you can meet potential bikes. This is a single track going quite steep downhill with many roots on the way so stay alert. At the next junction, keep right down the hill. Go straight to the next one and again towards a bench you start to see down the bottom of the hill.

(2) At the next path junction, with a wooden signpost with a red line on top, turn left. Now you have your back facing the bench. You are now entering a wide open area, walking at the edge of the forest on your left-hand side. Go past two carved bears on your left. At the last junction, turn right back to the toilets and Contin car park. (S/E)
