(S/E) From the car park take the pathway to the Tree Cathedral and pass through the central part (the nave), heading northeast. When you emerge from the trees continue straight ahead to join a Redway. Turn left, following the Redway beneath a grid road - Portway (H5). Turn to the right immediately and after a few metres turn right again beneath another grid road - Brickhill Street (V10). Turn left onto a Redway and head north. The route runs parallel to Brickhill Street; keep the road on your left. Before long you pass under a footbridge that crosses the road. Take a right turn immediately after the footbridge; the Redway curves around to take you west over the footbridge. Shortly after crossing the bridge you will find yourself passing to the north of the Camphill Community.
(1) Continue on towards an old footbridge over the Grand Union Canal, but DO NOT cross. Instead, turn right along the canal-side path, the Grand Union Broadwalk, heading north west. The path passes across a timber walkway through a patch of trees, soon returning to the side of the canal. Head up to join the path left across the footbridge, then left again after the carved wooden frog on a bench to follow the canal-side path. This path is marked as part of the National Cycle Network Route 6 and also the Millennium Cycle Route. Continue along this route, on the west side of the Grand Union Canal, to pass under a grid road - Portway (H5). Soon you will come to a point where there are canal boats moored beside the path (on your left) and a car park on your right. This is at the eastern edge of Campbell Park.
(2) Just before the southern end of the car park, turn right onto a path through the car park and beside the access road - continue to a small roundabout, where you cross a road, Overgate. The path takes you to a larger roundabout in just a few metres. This is Cricket Green roundabout and the path takes you across an access road (to the Parks Trust Head Office and the Cricket Pavilion). Keep heading south west on this path, keeping the cricket green on your left until you come to a tree in the centre of a T-junction in the path. Turn right, across a cattle grid, following the path as it ascends gradually through Campbell Park towards Central Milton Keynes. Keep straight ahead on the path until you reach a T-junction with a Redway. At this point you are close to the grid road Marlborough Street (V8), on the other side of which is the main shopping area of Central Milton Keynes. Turn left onto the Redway and continue south east for a short way until you turn left onto a short path that takes you to the MK Rose.
(3) Pass around (or through) the MK Rose heading towards the Belvedere, which gives magnificent views eastwards. From the Belvedere turn back for a few metres and turn left down a path that descends quite quickly as it curves through the parkland. Follow this path (marked as National Cycle Network Route 51) heading north west through Campbell Park until it crosses another path (with a tall Totem Pole close by). Continue straight ahead until the path crosses a footbridge over a road (Overgate). Keep ahead on the main path, veering left (do NOT take the first turn on the right) until you come to an intersection with another path and a bridleway. Here you turn right onto a path that used to be Linford Lane, descending towards an old bridge over the Grand Union Canal.
(4) As you gradually descend along Linford Lane you have the Campbell Park Marina (under construction) on your right. You will pass under a grid road - Childs Way (H6) - and soon afterwards you will need to cross Pattison Lane. The lane will bring you to a crossroads with Newport Road - you will see The Barge pub/restaurant on the right, across the road.
(5) Cross Newport Road and continue straight ahead down Mill Lane until you reach Holy Trinity Church on your left.
(6) Turn left just after the church and follow the road/path northeast (in front of a detached house on your left). Shortly you will join a Redway that runs beside a grid road - Brickhill Street (V10). After a short distance you turn right, going under the road towards Willen Lake. Turn to the left while still within the roundabout underpass to emerge into Newlands. Take the right fork, onto a Redway that runs north west on the west side of the grid road - Brickhill Street (V10).
(7) Continue along the Redway, crossing first a road, Frobisher Gate, and then crossing a significant path which runs from the canal to Willen Lake. After that intersection you will see Gulliver's Theme Park on your left. Soon you come to Livingstone Drive on your left. Turn left here and return to the car park for the Tree Cathedral. The walk ends at the car park for the Tree Cathedral on Livingstone Drive, Newlands. (S/E)
