(S/E) After parking walk into the centre of the village and turn right across the substantial footbridge over the River Severn. Continue along the lane crossing over the Severn Valley Railway with its regular service of steam trains. Continue uphill for about 600 metres to reach a footpath on your left (grid ref. SO761795) as the lane curves right. Do not turn at the first lane on your left where the gate is, turn left (South -South-West) at the footpath past the horse ridding triangle sign on your left.
(1) When you turned left, take the footpath almost immediately on your right (South-South-West) into the trees. This path leads across fields to a track and continues in a south-westerly direction to a road (grid ref. SO758788).
(2) Reaching the road, turn right and within a few yards take the footpath on your left. This leads across a field (West) to a path junction.
(3) Keep on in the same direction to reach a gravelled lane then turn left (South) and continue to the road at Pound Green. Continue straight ahead (South-West) along the road walking to reach the B4194 near Buttonoak.
(4) Turn left (East), and keeping the grass verge on the left, walk as far as St Andrew's church on your right.
(5) Just past the church, turn right (South) into the Wyre Forest following the yellow waymarks. Continue in a South-West-South direction across the woods, ignoring the paths coming from the left and right to reach Dowles Brook (grid ref. SO758768).
(6) Turn left (East) here along a clear track for just over one and a half miles with the Brook on your right-hand side as it curves right then left to reach the end of Dry Mill Lane where you go straight on the footpath to reach the B4194.
(7) Turn right on B4194 and in a short way take the footpath on the left (West). This path leads down to the River Severn (grid ref. SO779764).
(8) Turn left (North) along the river following the North Worcestershire Path for 3 miles back to the start. As you near Upper Arley you pass under the impressive Victoria Bridge which carries the Severn Valley Railway across the river in a single span. (S/E)
