Start: Car park at the end of a really narrow lane (not suitable for RV/campervans). Grid ref. NX 957 654
(S/E) Walking out of the car park, you have Glen Burn (stream) on your left-hand side. Turn left but do not cross the wooden bridge. Instead, cross two gates straight ahead and carry on along the riverside.
The route is straightforward all the way to the top.
(1) Along the way, you are going to cross another gate and start to leave the Burn behind to go uphill into the woods. Cross another stile and carry on up. There are quite a lot of steps (rocks) and they are steep so as you walk up take a breath as you look backward and enjoy the view coming along.
(2) At the top of the hill the reward is the Waterloo monument! You can return from here using the same way back. (S/E)
For the ones who can, walk up the tiny spiral staircase to the top of the tower to get a magnificent 360-degree view !!! You have views of the Abbey down in the village.
