Description of the route

Start at one of the viewing areas on the road between the Château de Chambord and Thoury (D33).

(S/E) Leave the Chambord Estate and, at Thoury, take the D33 towards Crouy-sur-Cosson.

(1) On arriving in Crouy-sur-Cosson, do not cross the Cosson but take the small road on the right. It runs alongside the campsite. Leave theGR® on your right and continue to the next road on the right.

(2) The road turns into a track. Go straight on and cut across to the hamlet known as Le Bois Georget.

(3) Take the path on the right and pass by a pond.

(4) At the end, turn left, then at the Y-junction go straight on along the Allée de la Sologne until you reach the D22.

(5) Cross the D22 and take theGRP® opposite until the next junction.

(6) At the junction, turn right to walk alongside the boundary wall of Chambord Park. The path turns sharply left.

(7) At the Carrefour du Roi Stanislas, take the path on the right, the Allée du Roi de Pologne.

(8) At the Wagram crossroads, turn into the Allée du Prince de Wagram.

(9) Head towards the boundary wall and the road from Bracieux (D112). Go through the entrance and take the path running alongside the road on your left.

(10) The path joins the road (D112). Follow it to the left towards the village of Chambord.

(11) Take the first road on the right (D33) to return to the starting point (S/E).

Worth a visit

A day in Chambord, for example: a visit to the château in the morning, a bike ride in the afternoon (shaded, so doable even in August) and staying at the viewing area until nightfall to watch the animals (deer, roe deer, wild boar).

long, straight stretches that are a bit monotonous in the forest, which is very beautiful in summer. Lovely passage in front of the Château de Chambord.

The signposting is clear, so you can follow the castle’s Route 10, give or take a few details
Always go round the last entrance gate into the park to rejoin the cycle path
Long straight stretches through the forest, but generally pleasant
We combined it with a tour of the park

A lovely walk through the woods of the Chambord estate, though the scenery is always much the same: wide avenues stretching as far as the eye can see. We had a bit of trouble at the Chambord gate trying to find the cycle path along the road – it wasn’t very well signposted.

This route corresponds to number 10 on the ‘Castles by Bike’ trail.
Can be combined with number 11 of the ‘Castles by Bike’ route.
Some issues with signposting in the forest south of Chambord.

I think the route could be longer, given that it’s quite easy. Also, there’s a discrepancy at the back gate of Chambord. You have to cross the road and go through a small gate on the right. Have you considered standardising the route?
