(S/E) From the stables, head up the road that follows the GR®36 and the GR® du Pays Hautes Terres d'Oc.
(1) Leave the road and follow the GR®36 to the right, before turning right onto the Route de Oms. Take the second left, then turn immediately right to reach a fork.
(2) Turn left to follow the GR®36 path to a fork.
(3) Go through the gate on the right and continue along the forest track to Bonnéry.
(4) Turn right, then reach a road.
(5) Cross it and take another path opposite. Then follow the road again.
(6) Cross the D622 , which has quite a lot of traffic: be careful and cross quickly. At the junction, continue left, then reach a fork at Guior Haut.
(7) Turn left to cross the village of Guior Haut. Keep going straight on. Pass the pond and reach a fork.
(8) Leave the road and take the path on the left, into the forest. A section of the path does not appear on maps. Continue along the path not shown on maps. At the road, turn left towards Gabaude.
(9) Cross the hamlet on the right, following the GR®36. At the road, turn right, then left, before turning right onto the track. Pass two forks and reach a third.
(10) Continue along the GRP®, to the left, to join the A-road.
(11) Walk up the road, on the path on the other side, to get a better view for crossing. Walk alongside Lac du Merle.
(12) At the end, walk up the lake’s embankment.
(13) After the dam, cross the stream via the small bridge on the right (it’s difficult to cross on horseback). At the end, turn right towards the A-road.
(14) Cross the road, turn right, then left onto the GR®36. Continue straight on along the track at the hamlet known as ‘Le Merle’. Cross the Ruisseau de Las Lagues to reach a fork at Las Lagues Hautes.
(15) Leave the GR®36 and continue left onto the PR®. After the power lines, turn left and head towards La Safranière.
(16) Stay on the road at La Safranière, keeping to the right twice, to reach the picnic area for your lunch break, where you can tie the horses to trees or tie-up posts.
(17) Continue to the hut for a picnic break; you can tie the horses to the tree branches.
(18) Return to the GRP® and take the mountain bike path that runs alongside the road to reach the Tour du Sidobre car park.
(19) Once you reach Crémaussel, at the Tour des Rochers car park, turn left, then head towards a crossroads.
(20) You can go left or right on the route. To follow the route described in this guide, go right.
(21) When you reach the start of the rocks and the information boards describing them, continue along the path to reach the Roc de l'Oie.
(22) Turn left to reach the junction from the outward journey.
(20) Keep going straight ahead, in the opposite direction to the outward journey, until you reach the road.
(19) Cross the road and the car park to rejoin the GR®36. Stay on the same path until the fork after the power lines.
(23) Leave the GR®36 via a small path on the left. Then turn right three times, before continuing straight ahead twice, then left, and reaching a small, recently built bridge.
(24) Cross the bridge. Follow the road until you reach a crossroads.
(25) Leave the road and take a path to the left. Head back up the road.
(26) Leave the road and take a path on the right. Keep to the right on the road.
(27) Leave the road and take a forest track on the left. Continue straight ahead, then turn right to reach a cross.
(28) Turn right before reaching a Y-junction.
(29) Leave the road and head right until you reach another fork.
(30) Follow the PR® straight ahead to reach another road.
(31) Cross the road to continue on the PR®, and reach Guior Haut.
(32) Walk straight through the village, then turn right and immediately left. You will reach the D622 again: take care when crossing.
(7) Return to the stables via the same route as on the way there (S/E).
