Tile Hill Railway Station, Rail Trails

This trail explores the remaining areas of woodland from what was once part of the great Forest of Arden. Historically this was an area of scattered farmsteads, mostly belonging to the Stoneleigh Estate. You’ll still see occasional older buildings amongst the modern development as well as the plaque which marks the site of the former Massey Ferguson Factory.

Did you know?
Tile Hill was the site of the former Massey Ferguson/ AGCO tractor factory which, in its heyday, was the largest tractor factory in the world. Along with it’s offices and social club, the factory closed in 2003.
worth a visit regardless. Tile Hill was the former home of George Shaw, an English contemporary artist short-listed for the Turner Award in 2011. Shaw was brought up in Tile Hill in the 1970’s and the neighbourhood forms the subject of most of his paintings.

St Oswald’s Church: Anglican parish church for Tile Hill. Built in Brutalist style in 1956 by the architect Basil Spence (most well known for his work on Coventry Cathedral). Very different to your run-of-the-mill country church but worth a visit regardless.
