(S) From the bus stop at the Post Office turn left down Woodlands Road and at the end enter Old Copse.
(1) Bear right at the junction and keep in the same direction along the track through the wood, then between houses to the road.
(2) Cross to a narrow enclosed footpath to the left of the house and climb steps to reach the crossroads. Cross carefully and almost immediately bear left on the path leading to Peppard Common.
(3) Follow the path round to the right and go down the hill. Cross the valley bottom and enter woodland ahead on the steeply rising path to reach a lane.
(4) Turn right and cross the B481 carefully to the green ahead.
(5) Cross the green and continue along Church Lane past the 13 Century church of All Saints'.
(6) At the path junction bear left, go through the swing gate, bear left and cross the golf course on the footpath between trees. Go through the swing gate and continue ahead on a rising path through wood with bluebells in season.
(7) At the crossing track turn left and keep ahead at the next crossing, briefly on the Chiltern Way.
(8) Take the next footpath on the right through the gate and cross the field, then bear left through Clare's gate across another field. Enter the enclosed footpath to reach the road at Rotherfield Greys with the church on the right and the Maltsters Arms pub on the left.
(9) Turn right then cross to pass the shelter commemorating Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Turn left at the footpath sign and take the right fork towards Henley-on-Thames. Descend the hill with a fence on the right and enjoy the panoramic views across the valley.
Follow the path round to the right and before the gate cross stile to the other side of the hedge, continuing in the same direction along the hedge.
Keep ahead along the valley bottom. After the second stile note the avenue of mature chestnut trees converging from the right.
Cross track and pass to the right of Lawer Hernes. Keep to the footpath to the left of a tractor track. Emerge from the trees, cross stile and keep ahead on the fenced footpath.
(10) Continue across the track (Pack & Prime Lane), along the enclosed path with Henley College playing fields on the left. At a carpark area continue ahead on the track uphill, keeping to the fence on the right, ignoring the stepped path on the left.
(11) Join the driveway from Henley College and at end of Paradise Lane turn left to the main road. Cross in front of the gates to Friar Park, once home to George Harrison.
(12) Turn right to enter West St to the left of the main road. Pass the Row Barge, cross the road carefully and bear right past the Town Hall across the pedestrian area.
(13) Cross the road at traffic lights into Hart St and continue to the Thames promenade at the end of the Regatta Course by the Angel Inn.
(14) Turn right along the promenade then follow the road round to the right to reach Henley-On-Thames station. (E)
