If you start from this section from Crowthorne Railway Station (RG45 6NZ) Grid ref. SU 823 637
''From the station entrance, cross to the footpath sign and turn right through the gates of the new development. Bear left to the footpath soon between the railway and the pleasant wooded grounds of Wellington College. Soon after the path turns to the left, turn sharp right to join the Three Castles Path and cross the railway.
Turn left and keep to the Three Castles Path through Ambarrow Court Nature Reserve, keeping ahead at the footpath junction signpost.''

(S) If you just carry on the long-distance walk, keep ahead on the path through the grounds of Wellington College on Three Castles Path.

(1) At the junction, turn left to cross railway bridge. Turn left, following the Three Castles Path route through Ambarrow Court Nature Reserve. Keep ahead at the footpath sign.

(2) Turn right at the T-junction and follow the path to a car park and busy A321. Carefully cross into the fenced path to emerge at a road.

(3) Turn left and soon turn left again through a swing gate. Proceed along the edge of three fields and cross a lane, meadow and water sports area at Horseshoe Lake.

(4) Bear right before the gate to reach the banks of the Blackwater River. Turn right along the Blackwater Valley Path and keep to the river bank for about a mile, passing to the left of Moor Green Lake Nature Reserve.

(5) At the wooden bridge on the left cross into Hampshire, leaving the Blackwater to continue its journey to the Thames. Fork left through woodlands with water sports area on the left.

(6) At the end of the lake go through the gate on the right and along the gravel path to a road at Moulsham Green. Turn right, cross Blair Park and turn right along the edge of the green.

(7) Keep ahead on the path between houses, cross two roads, keep right and go through a gate after crossing the plank bridge. Keep to the field edge and bear left with the lake ahead. Go through the swing gate and turn right on the fenced path with Watmore Farm on your right.

(8) At the road the route turns right up Fox's Lane and passes the pubs in Eversley Cross, and in Eversley Centre, pub, shop and post office. Cross the road and turn left then right over the ditch and keep to the right side of two fields to reach a road.

(9) Turn left and carefully cross B3016, soon coming to the hamlet of Up Green. Turn right along Chequers Lane and soon left along the tarmac drive between houses.

(10) Follow the path, enclosed at first but soon with open field on the right and copse on the left. Keep to the left of the green metal gate into a narrow path with the field on the right. After crossing the plank bridge and a stile keep ahead for about 35yds to the path junction.

(11) Turn left along the hedge with a large field on the right. At the end of the field go through the gate and turn right along the fence. Continue to reach the A327.

(12) Cross the road and go straight across the green into the lane, passing the old manor and St Mary's church where Charles Kingsley, author of "The Water Babies' was rector for over 30 years. Continue past the old rectory and turn left by the ornate gateposts marking the start of Warren Heath, owned by the Forestry Commission. Keep to the main track following footpath signs to reach the major path junction at Welsh Drive.

(13) Keep to the left of the concrete pillar and enter wide track (Fox Ride).

(14) Cross the next ride (Sir Richard's) and at the next junction ignore descending path and bear right on level track on high ground.

(15) Soon after this track starts to descend take the narrower public footpath on the left which descends and
leaves the forest on a fenced path joining Springwell Lane. Keep ahead along the lane.

(16) As the lane turns left take the public footpath right through the swing gate. Cross the paddock and go through the gate. Cross the corner of the field to swing gates at the far corner. Follow the path through more swing gates, across a meadow then a wooden footbridge over the River Hart. This little river is a tributary of the Thames, joining the main river via the River Whitewater, the Blackwater and the River Loddon.

(17) Turn left beside the river through a wooded area with Hazel Heath on the right. Keep to the left at the path junction along the edge of the wood and continue on rising ground to a broad crossing track.

(18) Turn left along it and descend through mature woodland, keeping to the public footpath. After a swing gate the path becomes a road leading to Hunts Common Rd which joins the main A30.

(19) Cross the main road with care (and possibly some difficulty) and go up Park Corner Rd to the duck pond and picturesque Causeway Farm.

(20) Turn right through the middle of the green following line of oak trees. Cross a minor road and pass between the Cricketers pub and the cricket ground. Continue ahead across another minor road and then the busy A323 into Green Lane. Pass to the right of St. John's church.

(21) Turn left past more splendid oak trees to reach the road by a drive to the vicarage.

(22) Bear right into Church Lane and before the end of the houses cross to the swing gate. Turn right along the field edge path into the cemetery of St Mary's Church, dating from 1234.

(23) Turn left and follow the path round the churchyard enjoying the extensive pastoral views. After a small brick building turn left through a V-stile to enter a wooded path beside the lane.

(24) At the lane turn left and cross the field on a descending path. Cross the drive and footbridge and keep to the field boundary to a stile into a lane.

(25) Turn right and at Taplin's Farm turn left just past an overgrown footpath on the track that eventually leads to a bridge over the M3. Take the public footpath to the left of the concrete and follow it to the road by the railway bridge. Turn right for the Winchfield Inn or Winchfiels train station. (E)
