Coming from Sausset, take a small road 850 m to the right after the wine cooperative and follow it until you find a car park at a 90° right-hand bend.
(S/E) Take the track opposite, heading due north and running alongside a vineyard. After 150 m, turn onto the path on the right to climb gently up the hill. Make two wide hairpin bends and arrive on the plateau.
(1) Ignore the track on the left and take the one on the right. At the next junction, continue right for about 150 m.
(2) Leave the main track marked by a ‘No Entry’ sign and take a path on the left: there is a faint red marker on the left. Follow this path, which descends gently through the pine forest and leads to a fork.
(3) Take the blue-marked path heading left, northwards, which will take you to the Mède quarry.
(4) Follow the path, initially running alongside the quarry before veering off to the left. Ignore the first path on the right, then a second one on the left about 250 m further on. Continue along the gently ascending path until you emerge from the woods.
(5) If you veer slightly off the path to the right, you’ll find a clearing with lovely views of the Étang de Berre and Martigues. Then rejoin the path heading towards the circular building in the middle of the Plaine d’Escourillon: you might be lucky enough to spot a herd of wild goats there. At the junction with another path, turn right, pass a water tank and continue to an aerial.
(6) Follow the path down to the left until you reach the junction with theGR® de Pays 2013 Marseille-Provence-Métropole, marked in red and yellow.
(7) Leave the main path, which climbs to the right, and follow theGRP® which descends slightly to the left and will take you straight back to the car park where you started (S/E).
