The starting point is the car park at Haus Bilstein. Enter the following into your sat-nav: Zum Bilstein 25, 42399 Wuppertal
(S/E) We set off on a section of the Wappenweg, marked by a simple coat-of-arms symbol, up into the small village and follow the road to the church. At the end of the church, we leave the road to the left onto a narrow footpath, heading down to Am Obergraben. We follow this small road to the left, then right until we reach the junction; here we turn left again and then keep right at the fork until we reach the Wupper. We cross the bridge and turn right on the other side, walk to the fork and keep right again.
(1) We now follow the path to the dam, continuing along the path until it takes us across the railway track towards the road. We follow the path along the Wupper until we can cross the road to the left in front of the first buildings on the other side.
(2) Here, we take the small road called Mühlenfeld to the end of the industrial building. We turn left. We now follow the path along the Spreeler Bach. Further up, at the next junction, we go straight on, cross the stream and come to a path that continues to follow the stream. We continue along the path until we come to a crossroads, the A1.
(3) At the A1, we turn left and leave the Wappenweg. At the next opportunity, we turn right.
(4) We reach the local road Schultenhof, turn right and continue along the A1. At the “Hölzerne Klinke”, we cross the country road and turn right at the next opportunity. Here, we now follow the A2 and the A3.
(5) We follow the local road Dürholt until the next opportunity to turn left, just before the country road, and follow the A3 from here. We then leave the A3 at the next junction by turning right. After about 550 m, we cross two forest paths and continue along the track. After a while, we cross the Brambecke stream and a meadow. At the opposite edge of the wood, we keep to the right.
(6) We reach the Schwelm Circular Route S; we follow the path and the S sign to the left until we reach Beyenburger Straße. Here we turn right, follow the road for just under 200 m and leave it again by turning left. Behind the last house, we continue along a path. We continue along the S, following the Fastenbecke stream. Then, by a pond, we cross a country road and stay on the S until the junction leading left to the Fastenbecke stream.
(7) We now cross the Fastenbecke on the A3. At the next junction, we turn right. We now walk straight on.
(8) We reach Weuste, turn left and continue along the Wupperweg. After about 250 metres, we leave the road to the right onto a path and descend to Beyenburger Straße. We then follow the road to the right and, at the next right-hand bend, leave the road again to the left. We walk along the Wupper, keep to the right and continue to follow the river. We reach a footbridge over the Wupper. On the opposite side, we are back at the starting point of the walk (S/E).
