As an alternative to the usual out-and-back route that most people take from the start at Yahoué, this circular route follows the ridges towards Mont Bouo, before descending on the other side of the Yahoué river valley, offering a walk through a dense rainforest and a lovely view of Pic Malaoui. The descent is also gentler on this side (though longer). This hike is very physically demanding, both the ascent – which can resemble rock climbing in one or two sections – and the descent, which requires constant vigilance.
