Description of the walk

(S/E) Place de la Victoire, with your back to the tourist office (note the fountain opposite), turn right, then right again onto Rue Massillon, passing behind the tourist office. Ignore the street on the right that leads back to Place de la Victoire, ignore Rue Saint-Genès on the left (note the fountain in Place Royale and a beautiful shop front), then turn right onto Rue Terrasse (look up at the spider).

Ignore the alleyway, Rue Prévote, on your left, then turn left onto Rue des Chaussetiers. Walk to the end of Impasse des Chaussetiers and back, then continue to the left. Shortly afterwards, follow the street as it veers to the right (note the Fontaine aux Lions fountain on your left), then turn right onto Rue du Poids de Ville. You will reach Rue des Gras and turn right to go up towards the cathedral.

Before reaching it, turn left onto Place des Gras (look back to see the Puy de Dôme in good weather and a bas-relief on a high wall). At the fork just after, ignore Rue de la Coifferie on the right and follow Rue de l'Ente, further to the left. You will arrive at Place du Mazet.

(1) Turn right, cross Place du Marché aux Poissons (note the drinking fountain), and arrive at Rue Boirot. Cross over and take Rue de la Monnaie opposite. You will arrive at Rue Philippe Marcombes. Turn left, pass in front of the town hall (note the fountains flanking the entrance).

Turn right at the corner of the town hall (note the Fontaine d'Amboise fountain opposite) to reach Place Paul Gondard (car park) and follow Rue du Port straight ahead. Turn right onto Rue Blaise Pascal, then turn right onto Rue des Bohèmes. Turn left onto Rue de la Prison, then left again onto Rue Halle de Bourgogne to return to Rue Blaise Pascal.

(2) Continue to the right. Turn left onto Rue Omer Talon, then left onto Rue du Bon Pasteur. Follow Rue Neyron to the right, then turn right at the intersection onto Rue Villeneuve. You will arrive at Rue de l'Oratoire (there is no street sign at this intersection, but there is one further on), turn right, follow the street to the right/left and you will arrive back at Rue Blaise Pascal. Continue to the left and you will reach Place du Terrail (note the fountain).

(3) Continue straight ahead on Rue Savaron (you may wish to take a break at the Rosa da Rua café to share your impressions of this route), arrive at a crossroads and continue straight ahead on Rue Abbé Girard. Ignore Rue Neuve des Carmes on the left, then Rue Forosan on the right, then follow the street which turns right and leads to a square.

Continue straight ahead on Rue Ballainvilliers, then turn right onto Rue de la Treille. Ignore Rue Forosan on the right and Rue Paul Leblanc on the left, at the small square. Return to Rue Massillon, follow it to the left, then turn right to return to Place de la Victoire and the tourist office (S/E).

Such'Art is a cultural trail in the heart of Clermont, created to facilitate the discovery of various exhibition venues, street art and antique shops.

Its history in a few dates:
2016. "Space Invaders" invade Clermont-Ferrand. Franck Slama, street artist and mosaicist, sprinkles the city with around thirty works; this marks the beginning of an artistic movement in Clermont-Ferrand.
2017. As part of this movement, artistic venues spring up on the central plateau, frescoes, murals and other collages appear, and a guide is created: Hill's Village.
2018. The SUC association (from the Auvergne word suc or knoll, meaning summit, but also an acronym for "Sommet Urbain Clermontois" or Clermont Urban Summit), in association with Hill's Village, publishes the guidebook, Such'Art. The latter highlights around forty artistic venues (galleries, artists' studios, antique dealers).
It is this itinerary, updated in 2022, that I am offering you here. You can pick up the guide at the tourist office at the start of the walk; it lists art galleries and museums, art and creative studios, antique dealers and second-hand bookshops, as well as art training centres.

Murals, mosaics and collages punctuate this urban walk.
The route through the ancient streets of the central plateau also allows you to discover little architectural treasures.

Hello
I did this course two days in a row with two groups of secondary school pupils.
I had planned for two hours.
I focused on Invaders.
The students enjoyed this outdoor lesson near the school.
This discovery allowed them to explore places other than Place de Jaude and Jaude.
Thank you for this wonderful initiative
