Parking in the village of Fjordgard, motorhome area.
(S/E) Return to the road and follow it south.
(1) After about 150 m, take a small road on the right. Turn left with the road and continue south through the village.
(2) At the crossroads, turn right into a narrow street towards Fjordgarden. When the street turns left, continue straight ahead on a path. You will soon reach signposts for the peaks of Hesten, Segla and Barden.
(3) Continue straight towards Hesten, staying on the main path. Climb up through the forest and then across open terrain (blue markers).
(4) At a fork in the trail, bear right to reach a ridge at an unnamed pass (magnificent view of the Korkedalen valley).
(5) Follow the ridge to the left and uphill. The end of the climb is very steep and requires the use of your hands. Reach the summit of Hesten: impressive drop to the Mefjorden fjord (to the west) and breathtaking view of Segla (to the south).
(6) Descend via the ridge that runs along the fjord, heading south-southeast.
(7) At an unnamed pass, turn left and continue downhill to an intersection passed on the way up. N.B. Do not attempt to reach Segla from the pass, as it is impassable.
(4) Follow the route you took on the way up in reverse.
(3) Turn right onto the wide, gravel main road (signposted "Segla"). Head south until you reach a crossroads.
(8) Then turn right at an acute angle towards Segla. The path is well marked and leads to an unnamed pass on the edge of the fjord, at an altitude of approximately 325 metres.
(9) Climb up to the right towards the summit of Segla. The path is very steep and consists of several trails with slippery earth and stones (avoid in wet weather). Reach the summit overlooking the fjord.
(10) Descend to the pass via the same route you took on the way up.
(9) Continue south-southeast then southeast along the ridge at the edge of the fjord. The path is easy at first but becomes steep towards the end, with a few sections where you will need to use your hands.
(11) From the summit of Barden, descend via a path that initially heads northeast and is steep. The path then turns north and becomes easier and well marked. Cross a few wooden footbridges. Return to the crossroads you passed earlier.
(8) Head north and follow the same route as on the way up.
(3) At the crossroads, turn right and follow the same route as on the way there to return to the car park (S/E).
