Park in Saint-Bonnet-du-Gard, Place de la Mairie.
(S/E) Head north-west (GR®6) and, after the house with olive trees, take the small path that goes straight up.
(1) At the crossroads, take the left track following theGR®6, pass to the left of the cistern and continue for about 500m
(2) Turn onto the track on the right, still on theGR®6. Continue slowly to the archaeological site and go under the tunnel.
(3) You will come out at the top of the Pont du Gard and take the steps down to the left.
Arrive on the right side of the bridge and cross it, taking care to admire the work carried out 2,000 years ago!
At the other end, climb the steps (still on theGR®6) and head towards the viewpoint.
(4) Either it's time for a picnic and this is the ideal spot, or continue along the aqueduct and arrive at the road.
(5) Turn left, still on theGR®6(road closed to traffic). Continue along this road and, at the three-way junction, turn left and then right onto the path.
Rejoin the road a little further on, turn left and continue straight ahead until you reach Bégude Saint-André.
(6) Turn left and continue straight ahead at the crossroads. Follow the road that veers to the left, then turn right at the fork and continue past the Barque Vieille.
(7) At the next crossroads, take the path on the right (no vehicles). Continue until you reach the road.
(8) Turn right until you reach the main road (D981), cross it to the right and immediately turn left onto Chemin de l'Ancienne Gare, which you will find 50 metres further on.
(9) At the end of the road, turn right. At the next crossroads, turn left and follow the cemetery. Cross the village, either following the yellow signs (chemin de la coopérative) to see the first wash house, or turning left in front of the post office to make a round trip to the first wash house and then heading towards the boules court or the Pont du Gard stone (quarry).
(10) At the end, turn right to return to the village and note the old stone houses of the Gard.
When you reach the square, head towards Pont du Gard (GR® andPR®) on the left.
Follow Rue de la Rochelle, go straight ahead through the small passageway and then, at the bottom, rejoin the road.
(11) Turn left, pass the third wash house and continue on theGR®/PR® along the path on the left until you reach the main road and the roundabout on the D981, which you cross.
(12) Go up to the left and, after 70 metres, turn right. Now follow the aqueduct to return to the path you took on the way there.
Continue straight ahead to reach the viewpoint (where you can have a picnic if you didn't do so on the way there).
After crossing the Pont du Gard, turn left and walk past the shops.
(13) Then turn right onto the path that climbs gently.
(1) Continue straight ahead to return to your starting point (S/E).
