(S/E) From the car park at the bottom of the Côte des Fourgs, take the small road that leaves at the entrance to the bend towards La Cluse and Mijoux. This small road passes over the stream and climbs just after it.
Follow this small road, which makes two hairpin bends before becoming a track suitable for vehicles. Cross two fences using the passages provided for mountain bikes.
(1) When the road levels out, turn right onto a wide forest track. Follow the signs for mountain bike trail no. 80. Take the first path on the right, then turn left onto a footpath that is quite technical, especially if the ground is wet. This path becomes a track before turning into a tarmac road.
(2) At the crossroads, turn right and go down the road. In a small bend, turn left onto a wide track in the forest. Continue until you reach Oye-et-Pallet at the Doubs river.
(3) Take the road to cross the Doubs, continue for a few metres before turning left to climb up into the village.
(4) The road winds around a bend, which you will cut across via a small path that climbs steeply up your left. Join the road above and continue climbing before descending opposite. Continue until you reach the main road, which you must cross, along with the small river. There is a very small bridge or a bridge that a car can pass over. The path to take is then opposite the very small bridge or just after the slightly larger bridge on the left.
(5) Pass the reservoir and go up the small path. This will take you to a road that you should take on the left to climb a little further. Do not turn at the first intersection, but at the second on the right. A small road climbs and becomes a large path at the next crossroads.
(6) Go up along the power line and turn left at the intersection in the forest. Continue until the road becomes paved and turn left at the next intersection to reach Les Granges.
(7) After the large farm building, turn right onto the small road, then leave it and take a very narrow path that enters a pasture on the left. This small path descends quite steeply.
(8) At the intersection, turn right. This path will take you to a small clearing before returning to the forest. The fairly narrow path is mostly flat. Continue on this path, which will take you to Pontarlier on the side of the Chapelle de l'Espérance.
(9) Go down the small street on the left, pass under the railway bridge and turn right immediately after. Do not cross the Doubs, stay on the left bank and ride along the Doubs, going upstream. Stay along the railway line, then cross it via the designated crossing. The path climbs gently into the forest, staying on the side of the mountain with the Doubs below.
(10) Go back down towards the road and cross the Doubs via the road bridge. Just after the bridge, turn right to follow the Doubs once again on the other bank.
(11) This path joins the small road that climbs up to the Château de Joux. Follow it uphill. Once at the top, descend a little along the road and turn right as if to enter the car park in the opposite direction.
(12) The trail is opposite, descending through pastures to the village of La Cluse and Mijoux. Take the small street opposite the end of the trail, follow it for a few hundred metres and turn right onto the old railway line, then turn right and follow it until you reach your starting point (S/E).
