From Jasper, take Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway) at the northern exit of the town. After about 2 km, turn right onto Maligne Road, which crosses the Athabasca River. After the bridge, continue left on the same road for about 5 km. At the "Maligne Canyon" sign, turn left; the car park is 200 m away.
(S/E) Go to the south-east side of the car park, pass the Wilderness Kitchen, and take the Maligne Canyon Track trail that runs along the river to the west. Cross the river on the first footbridge and continue for 150 m on the left bank. Go to the intersection.
(1) Go back and forth on the second footbridge on the right to admire the view, then descend a steep 50 m drop on the left bank. Cross the river via the third footbridge and, after about 100 m, rejoin the main trail.
(2) Continue straight ahead (south-east) until you reach a fork.
:3:: Leave the main path on your right and, on your left, approach the river, which forms a loop. Follow it (north-west) for one kilometre until you reach a crossroads
(4) Leave the trail on your left, towards the toilets, and the Rock Garden trail opposite. Head right onto the main Maligne Canyon trail, which follows (southeast), slightly above the previous route, to reach the fork (3), then the intersection (2). Leave the trail you took on the way there on your right and continue left to reach a crossroads.
(5) Ignore the trails on the left, one going in the opposite direction and the other straight ahead, and turn right. About ten metres further on, leave the trail on the right that crosses the river and continue straight ahead to the car park (S/E).
