Parking: At the end of the accessible part of the Plaine de Chanfroy path. To find it, take the D64 from Arbonne-la-Forêt towards Achères-la-Forêt. After the Corne-Biche equestrian centre at the exit of Arbonne-la-Forêt, turn left into the forest onto the small road towards the Carrière des fusillés.
Note: to reduce visitor numbers, the ONF has removed the signposts from the Corne Biche rock, i.e. the area at the start of the route!
(S/E) From the car park, continue along the Chanfroy road after the barrier, heading east. After about 100 metres, turn left onto Chemin des Mariniers, which will take you to another crossroads 100 metres further on.
(1) Take the bridle path on the right. After about 300 metres, take the path on the left (almost opposite) which quickly climbs to the crest of the Rochers de Corne-Biche. At the top, continue eastwards along the crest until you reach the Tour de la Vierge (*).
(2) Continue for a few metres in the direction of the finish line and look for the dip in the ground with a descent to the right. Follow it downhill and then straight ahead, slightly to the left, towards the south. Cross the Plaine de Chanfroy path and continue straight ahead (off the trail) to the Allée des Fusillés, turning left to reach the monument dedicated to them. Visible by the chains on posts. You can enter by stepping over the chain to read the information (*).
(3) Leave the memorial and turn right (east-southeast) onto Allée des Fusillés. After 100 metres, turn right onto Chemin des Enclos, between two fences. At the end of the enclosures, join Chemin du Rocher de la Reine.
(4) Turn left onto Chemin de la Reine until it turns left towards the north. At the end of the bend, turn right, almost in line with the previous section. The path ends at Route du Liteau. Turn right and climb 50 metres to reach the path above the aqueduct. Turn left, heading east. Continue until you descend to the left onto the visible part of the aqueduct. Cross the Goulotte, which passes under the aqueduct (*), and continue until you reach the stony Chemin d'Arbonne. Turn right onto this path, which climbs steeply. Shortly before the end of the climb, turn left behind the barriers for a beautiful view.
(5) Resume the climb and continue straight ahead to the crossroads. Turn left onto Chemin des Pieds Pourris. At the end of the steep part of the descent, turn 45° right onto the (barely visible) Chemin du Louvard. Cross the (barely visible) path above the aqueduct to reach Route de Milly in Fontainebleau.
(6) Continue straight ahead on Route du Louvard (*) to cross Rocher de Milly. At the bottom, at Carrefour de la Louve, continue straight ahead on Louvard and follow it to the top left. At the junction with Route du Point de Vue de Hurlevent (*), follow it to the left and you will arrive at the viewpoint (bench).
(7) Leave the viewpoint heading north along the path that runs along the edge of the plateau, with the ravine on your left. After 50 metres, rejoin Route du Louvard and descend the steps on the left. At the bottom, cross Route des Basses Plaines and climb up opposite. Descend again to reach Route de la Tente, turning right. At the next crossroads, turn left, then left again to climb back up onto the plateau and find theGR®®11Blanc et Rouge.
(8) Follow the GR® trail to the right, heading east. Be careful, as the markings are not very visible, especially when the trail turns left. At one point, theGR®® trail will turn left again onto Route Saint-Mégrin. In the right-hand bend that follows, leave theGR®® trail temporarily and turn left for about ten metres to reach the magnificent viewpoint of the Hautes Plaines (*).
(9) From the viewpoint, walk back a few metres south, near St Mégrin, and find the path on the right that descends, turning right under the rocks of the viewpoint. At the bottom, join the Route des Gorges de Franchard, turn left and walk for 800 metres until you reach a major crossroads with the Route du Bornage on the right.
(10) Turn left onto Route du Louvard (yes, again) and climb up to the pass.
(11) At the pass, leave the stony path and rejoin theGR®®11, which climbs to the right towards the west. Follow the red and white markings through beautiful rocks and valleys (watch out for changes in direction). On the other side of the Rochers des Sablons, descend gently and you will come to a barrier on a path.
(12) Follow theGR®® which branches off to the left onto the Chemin de Milly, which is almost flat, heading south-west to the first houses of Arbonne-la-Forêt, at the crossroads with the Chemin des Mariniers.
(13) Leave theGR®® and take Chemin des Mariniers on the left. After crossing Chemin de Corne-Biche, Chemin des Mariniers climbs and then descends slightly until you reach the crossroads you took on the way there.
(1) Take the bridle path on the right. After about 100 metres, you will find the car park on your left (S/E).
