Description of the walk

Parking at the Kohlschlag farmhouse inn if you are a guest of the farmhouse inn, or parking at Col Amic, above the farm, if you are not having lunch there.

(S/E) From the inn's car park, take the path to the left of the road and you will come to a junction with the Blue Triangle marked trail.

(1) At Kohlschlag, follow the Blue Triangle marked trail to the left, which climbs to a junction on the forest ridge south of the farm.

(2) Cross the ridge at the junction with the Yellow Triangle trail and descend steeply on the other side with the Blue Triangle to the chapel, built in a small clearing.

(3) Continue on the Yellow Triangle route to the left and, very quickly, take the Yellow Disc marked trail to the right and continue downhill towards the Abri Baratin, a permanent military shelter belonging to the French army, which takes its name from that of an officer.

(4) Leave the marked path for the track that branches off to the left and joins the top of the Kaltenbach valley (Red Cross).

(5) At the bend to the right, at the bottom of the valley, take the Red Triangle marked trail that climbs left into the forest towards the Kohlschlag farmhouse inn (S/E).
