Isinlivi – Chugchilan

Second section of the Quilotoa circular route. Extraordinary. A few hundred metres after setting off, the path splits into two, with very clear signposts. You can take the gentle path on the left or the adventurous trail on the right. The visible route is that of the adventurous trail on the right. A bit of a challenge, but extraordinary, with a section through a truly beautiful canyon. You should expect a bit of scrambling, but it’s perfectly safe. Once you reach the small pueblo called Itualo, there are two options here too: either take the safe path, which is longer and less steep, or head up the mountain along a fairly steep slope that leads to the viewpoint. You then rejoin the tarmac road for one or two kilometres before reaching your destination. It’s more challenging than the first section but takes in some extraordinary scenery.
