Start: Take the only road out of Morro Jable towards Cofete, passing over the port and its inter-island ferries. After the cemetery, the asphalt stops, so you'll still have to drive 1.5 km on a very passable dirt road to get to the start parking lot, which is well marked out and clearly visible on this very arid terrain, with plenty of room to park.
(S) A single path leads from the car park next to the information panels. The sign says "you are here" with an arrow at Cofete. Don't worry, you're right at the start and the sign is wrong''. The path leads down into the valley, clearly marked by aligned stones. After a few hundred metres, you come to a fork in the road.
(1) Go straight ahead on the well-marked path, signposted "Cofete 2h 40". The time is a little overestimated in my humble opinion". From the crossroads, the path is marked out in yellow and white as far as the Montaneta. It's impossible to get lost! Quickly reach a second crossroads.
(2) Take the path to the left which heads towards the valley floor and then climbs very gently to the valley floor. The valley is quite dry, with a few ruins of pastoral activity, and a few goats still present. The climb becomes more severe at the foot of the pass, but it's not long.
(3) At Col Degollada de Cofete, descend the pass to the right on a well-marked path. Take in the splendid view, a vision of the end of the world, with jagged peaks towering over an ocean of shades of blue. A highlight of the hike! And undoubtedly of your vacation on Fuerteventura.
The descent is similar to the ascent on the other side, a little steep for the first few metres after the pass, but then the gradient diminishes and you arrive very quietly at Cofete and its cafeteria.
(4) Climb the small hill with the wind turbine to enjoy the view.
(5) Climb back down the hill in the same place and head for the well on the left. Just before the well, take the small path which runs off to the left along the side of the hill and then through the vegetation towards the beach. At the end, the path merges with a dry torrent bed, leading to the small cemetery.
You arrive with your feet in the water, with some nice rollers. ''__Warning, as indicated everywhere, swimming is dangerous! (E).
