Worth a visit

(1) Don’t hesitate to step inside Östermalms Saluhall, a magnificent covered market dating from 1888, open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 5pm.

(3) Mårten Trotzigs gränd is Stockholm’s narrowest alleyway, a medieval passageway tucked away in the heart of Gamla Stan (the Old Town) that is just 90 centimetres wide at its narrowest point.

(5) SoFo is the neighbourhood renowned as Stockholm’s trendiest, most creative and hipster district, with its bohemian atmosphere, independent vintage shops, art galleries and trendy cafés.

(6) Tantolunden Park is one of the largest in Stockholm. It is famous for its charming allotments with their colourful little huts, its summer swimming areas and its hills, which are ideal for picnics.

(7) Skinnarviksberget is the highest natural point in central Stockholm, a rocky park much loved by locals for picnics, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the City Hall and Riddarfjärden Bay.

(9) The magnificent Monteliusvägen footpath, approximately 400 metres long and built along the cliffside on the island of Södermalm, offers one of Stockholm’s most famous panoramic views of Lake Mälaren, City Hall and the Old Town.

(10) Stortorget is the oldest square and the historic heart of Gamla Stan. It is a historic site famous for the Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520.

(13) The pedestrian walkway passes through the Swedish Parliament (the Riksdag)! Look up to admire the arches, columns and architectural details of the façade.
