Description of the route

Departure from the viaduct at the carpooling area, parking available on site.

(S/E) Cross the viaduct via the cycle path along the road until thefirst intersection.

(1) Turn right onto the winding path that descends to the river. At the foot of the viaduct, take the path on the right to reach the towpath.

(2) Follow it to the right until you reach the sailing club.

(3) Pass the club and take the road uphill on the right to avoid the quays. At the top of the road, turn left and follow the Jardin du Bout du Monde. Join the garden by taking Rue Hayer on the left towards the garden and Saint-Jean Church.

(5) Go back down Rue Hayer and turn left at the "give way" sign. At the roundabout, take the second exit to follow the promenades.

(6) Continue to the next roundabout and take thethird exit onto Rue Gambetta. You will soon arrive at Place de la République between the Town Hall and the old market halls.

(7) Cross the square opposite, turn right down Rue des Pintiers and turn right at the end of the street, then immediately left to go down Rue du Riochet until you reach Rue du Docteur Bénard Tertrais.

(8) Turn left to reach the quays on the right at the roundabout.

(9) Take thefirst exit on the right and follow the quay. Take the towpath that runs alongside the Quai d'Alsace. Just after passing under the bridge, you will come to a fork.

(10) Take the small gravel path on the right. After the roundabout, follow the cycle path. At the first roundabout, continue straight ahead until you reach the Rond-Point de Vauvert.

(11) Go straight ahead and rejoin the cycle path that runs alongside the Parc de l'Oisillière. Rejoin the park by turning right twice at the next roundabout, then left between the skate park and the toilets to reach the picnic area.

(12) Retrace your steps, then turn right before the toilets and return to the bridge near the Mayenne river, following the same route as on the way there but in the opposite direction.

(10) Follow the Mayenne River on your right until you reach the foot of the Château-Gontier Bridge, then rejoin the greenway, which climbs up, turning right and then left until you reach the bridge, which you cross.

(13) Continue along the road. At the first intersection with the greenway, turn right and go under the tunnel. Continue along the greenway. Cross Rue du Petit Tertre and arrive at Rue du Lieutenant Henri Morillon.

(14) Go straight ahead. Cross Rue du 8 Mai 1945 and continue to the railway line and Avenue du Maréchal Foch.

(15) Turn left and go down the avenue. Please note that this part of the route does not have a cycle lane and the road is busy. At the car park, take the street on the left to reach the former Ursuline Convent (a remarkable building in the Faubourg district) and then the Tourist Office.

(16) Walk along the Chapelle du Genneteil on your right and take Rue de Thiers on your left at the stop sign. At the roundabout, keep right and rejoin the cycle lane that runs alongside the road to the port.

(17) Continue straight ahead on the cycle path. At the roundabout, go straight ahead and keep going until you pass the Camping du Parc.

(18) Go straight ahead and cross the roundabout using the cycle lane. Take the cycle lane that runs alongside the road until you reach the viaduct (S/E).
