Start at the Tourist Office in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux (car park nearby).
(S/E) From the Tourist Office, walk up Rue de Genève to the third crossroads.
(1) Turn left onto Rue des Rouliers, then take the second street on the right, Rue Abbé Houser, and continue to the end.
(2) Opposite no. 19, turn right (Rue du Coin d'Amont), cross the bridge over the main road after going around Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux and entering the forest, and reach the hamlet of Vers les Moulins.
(3) At the exit of the hamlet, at No. 42, turn left (Route du Chaumerand) and follow the stream to the viewpoint overlooking the meanders of the Lemme.
(4) Continue along Route du Chaumerand, pass the school overlooking the valley on the right and keep to the right to reach the hamlet of Le Coin d'Aval.
(5) After the hamlet, at the three-way junction, turn right onto the secondary tarmac road. Cross the hamlet of La Ruine and you will come back onto the district road in the centre of the village of Fort-du-Plasme.
(6) Continue right on Grande Rue, pass the town hall and arrive at Clos Béchet.
(7) Turn onto the first road on the right, which connects the villages of Fort-du-Plasne and Lac-des-Rouges-Truites.
(8) At the war memorial, cross the D437 carefully and continue to Domaine du Bugnon.
(9) Enter the Mont Noir forest and follow the forest road to the Quatre Chemins crossroads.
(10) Continue climbing through the forest on the Route Forestière du Gy Milan at first, then turn right onto the Route Forestière du Mont Noir. Continue to the access road to the Camping de la Favière campsite.
(11) When you reach Camping de la Favière, turn left onto Route Forestière du Fromaget. Continue until you leave the forest and arrive at a multiple crossroads.
(12) Turn left (Route du Coin Dernier) slightly downhill and follow the small tarmac road. Turn right at the next crossroads and quickly reach the next one.
(13) Turn right and then immediately left onto the small tarmac road (Route des Gentianes). Follow it until you reach a right-hand bend and take the gravel path opposite until you rejoin the tarmac road at the Gentianes station.
(14) A few metres after the Gentianes station car park, take the path on the left across the Plaine des Marais. When you reach the road, turn left towards the sports facilities and you will come to a three-way junction.
(15) Turn right, walk along the buildings and turn right onto Route des Laisines, then left onto Route Royale. Continue along Rue Germain Paget and reach the Bucle campsite at the bottom of a steep slope.
(16) After the campsite, go up to the left along the campsite to the Morbier swimming pool. Go around it on the left and reach the Étang des Bruyères lake and go around it on the left.
(17) On the other side of the pond, turn left and walk up alongside the Résidence du Lac to the edge of the forest. Continue right along the path under the forest canopy. Keep right until you reach the viaduct.
(18) Go under it and head to Morbier Church.
(19) Cross carefully at the pedestrian crossing downstream from the church and continue straight ahead before turning quickly left. Go behind the school and then go around the cemetery via Rue de Trepaillard. At the end, continue left and you will come out on Route du Leat.
(20) Take the hairpin bend to the right, go down the small road, cross the bridge, and go back up to reach the marked trail on the left (Chemin des Diligences) a few metres before the D26, Route de la Vallée.
(21) Follow this mountain bike route. At the street, turn right, then left and continue straight ahead to reach the tarmac road at Tancua.
(22) Continue along Rue des Forges until you reach Route de la Bienne (end of the path). Go down this road before turning right, at the Chemin Royal hiking signpost, onto the excellent Chemin Coulon and follow it to the end. You will come out onto the departmental road a few hundred metres before the hamlet of Les Mouillés.
(23) Continue carefully to the left on the departmental road to Les Mouillés, then turn left towards Lézat (Rue de la Mairie). Join the greenway, which descends gently to the right to Villard-sur-Bienne.
(24) Keep to the right and then take the road on the right (Chemin de la Pontoise) after the village town hall annex, at the fountain and calvary.
(25) At the main road, cross with great caution to take the white path that climbs up opposite. Go around a bend and continue straight ahead on the forest road through the woods to the first houses of the hamlet of Les Crozats.
(26) Turn right onto Route du Château, then keep right and continue to the centre of Château-des-Prés. When you reach the village, go around the church on the left and continue to the junction with the D437 and D28.
(27) Turn left onto the D28 towards Chaux des Prés and you will come to a fork at a wash house and a calvary.
(28) Take the carriage road on the right and walk past the wash house on your left. Pass close to a private property and join a road (D347).
(29) Turn right and, a few metres further on, cross the road with great caution to take the forest path on the left and follow it. Ignore a path on the right and stay on the track until you pass Pré Basset on your right, a large clearing known for its acoustics. Continue to a crossroads at the end of the track.
(30) Keep right and continue along the forest road until you reach Belvédère du Moulin, a viewpoint overlooking Lac de l'Abbaye and Combe du Grandvaux. Continue along the same road until you reach the highest point, Les Cernois.
(31) Pass Sapin Président, then ignore the road on your left and continue straight ahead. The route reaches its highest point.
(32) Continue on the left down a steady, continuous descent until you reach the junction with the local road (terminus).
(33) Note Lac de l'Abbaye on your left and turn your back on it to head right (D344). Pass the hamlet of La Ferté, then Mussillons, and turn right at the next crossroads. Cross Les Jeannez and reach No. 11.
(34) Turn right onto the tarmac road, which quickly becomes a track suitable for vehicles. At the three-way junction, keep right and ignore the quarry on your left. Go through a 90° left-hand bend and keep left at the next junction. Continue uphill towards the north through the woods until you reach Les Pierres.
(35) Follow the road to the left, cross the level crossing, walk alongside the sports grounds on your left, then turn right onto Rue du Parc and head for the Tourist Office (S/E).
