Description of the walk

In Cavaillon, leave your vehicle in the car park (free) on Rue Thomas Hérisson, opposite the main entrance to the hospital.

(S/E) Take the street leading to the car park and turn left onto Avenue Georges Clémenceau, opposite the hospital entrance. When the street curves to the left, cross it towards the arch and the former chapel of the Hôtel-Dieu, continue along the street (Grand'Rue) in the same direction until you reach the intersection with Rue Michelet on the left. You will arrive at a square (Rue Waldeck Rousseau).

(1) Walk along it on the right, then turn left onto Rue Chabran, towards the synagogue. Turn onto the first street on the right, Rue Hébraïque (aptly named) and walk under the synagogue. At the end of the street, turn right (Rue de la République) and, at the crossroads, go straight on onto Rue Paul Bert. Continue to the second crossroads and turn left to arrive at the foot of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Véran Cathedral.

(2) Go around the cathedral (closed for renovation in 2023) on the right to reach a square. Opposite, take the street under an arch. Continue straight ahead on Passage Vidau to reach Cavaillon's large, lively square, Place du Clos. Turn right towards the Roman arch.

(3) Pass under the arch and turn left towards the tourist office. Take the stairs on the right of the tourist office to climb up to the Chemin des Falaises. Follow the yellow markings and ignore the climbing route. Arrive at the Ermitage Saint-Jacques (closed) and continue along the path as you wish.

(4) Turn around and go back down the same way you came, returning to Place du Clos.

(3) Continue straight ahead across the square until you reach the intersection with Rue Raphael Michel on your left. Turn right onto Place Fernand Lombard, then turn left just behind the town hall. Then take the second street on the right, Rue Lamartine, and follow it when it turns left at a crossroads.

(5) In the right-hand bend that follows, ignore Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau on the left and continue straight ahead, then turn left at the first street. At the intersection, follow Rue Gustave Flaubert to the left, then turn right onto Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau at the next crossroads. At the end of the street, turn left (Rue Michelet) and you will come to a crossroads you passed on the way there, at a square (Rue Waldeck Rousseau).

(1) Turn right and you will arrive at Boulevard Léon Gambetta. Follow it to the left, passing the arch and the old chapel of the Hôtel-Dieu on your left, and then retrace your steps to return to the car park (S/E).
