Before setting off, our advice is to park one car at the end point and one at the starting point.
In Reignac-Sur-Indre, the car park is on the left before the D58 bridge that crosses the Indre.
(S) Unpack your gear and climb the earthen embankment (a dyke built in 1988 following the Indre’s overflow in 1982) and, behind it, you will find a weeping willow.
(1) You’ll launch from beneath the tree and will need to wade into the water as there are no facilities provided. You can also prepare your kayak—if it’s inflatable—on the grass before heading out onto the water.
Paddle downstream.
(2) Normally, provided the water level hasn’t risen in the two days prior, it is possible to pass under the first arch of the bridge on the left and carry the kayak or canoe across.
As soon as you get out of the water, carry your kayak/canoe across the bridge on the D83 road.
(E) At the end of the bridge, you will see a small path on the left leading back down to the banks of the Indre. A small jetty awaits you. This will allow you to safely get back into the water for the next stage.
