Departure from the carpool area, Rue des Métairies in Bel-Air, north of Questembert. Accessible by train from Vannes and Redon via the station located a few hundred metres away.
(S/E) From the Bel-Air crossroads, head south on the D5 towards Questembert. Go under the railway line and continue due south, following the cycle path, until you reach the roundabout just before the Lenruit retail park.
(1) At the first roundabout, turn right onto Rue de Gutenberg, then right again at the next junction. The road passes through the village of Maguero Bocaran, where you can admire some fine examples of heritage buildings. After passing through the village, continue through a more recent residential area to reach the Saint-Éloi stream.
(2) At the junction near the stream, turn right to head up towards a three-way junction. Turn left onto Route de Kermarie, towards Borneguin. After this hamlet, continue left towards the village of Saint-Doué. Leave the village on your left and take the path on the right under the trees to discover the magnificent chapel hidden there.
(3) After visiting the chapel, continue past the striking wayside cross to rejoin the road. Turn right and follow this road for just over a kilometre before coming out onto theD1C. Continue to the right until you reach a large crossroads.
(4) Turn left onto the C3 towards La Vraie Croix, and continue along this road until you reach the village of La Vraie-Croix. At the church, turn left to enter the square, at the far end of which stands the chapel. A visit to this curious monument is a must.
(5) Pass through the porch beneath the building, then continue straight ahead, passing in front of the town hall. Next, turn left between the two schools, then follow the road towards Larré. Cross the railway line and continue to the right until you reach the D775.
(6) You must cross this road on foot due to the layout of the junction. Then continue straight on, on the C1, towards Elven, then straight on again at the next junction, towards Larré. A pleasant downhill road through wooded countryside leads directly to the village.
(7) Unless you wish to avoid the village, turn right to reach the old town centre with its beautiful stone buildings and remarkable wayside crosses. Then return to the crossroads by the cemetery.
(7) Take the road on the right towards Moustoir Maria.
(8) Pass through the hamlet, following the road that veers off to the right. Shortly after leaving the village, take care not to be carried away by the descent, as the road tends to do. Turn right just before the road heads down into the valley. Continue along this road, which slopes gently down towards the Saint-Christophe stream, until you come to a crossroad at the bottom of the valley.
(9) At the crossroads, opposite No. 2, turn right and follow the road uphill for about 300 m. At the first crossroads, turn left towards Trémégan, then follow the road to the hamlet.
(10) Cross the hamlet, walk for a while above the Arz, then emerge further on onto the D139, at the end of another short slope.
(11) Opposite No. 2, turn left and head down to the Pont de Molac. Cross the river, then walk up the other side until you reach the road leading to the village of Coquily.
(12) Turn left towards Coquily and follow this small road as it winds its way above the Arz and then a tributary valley, until it joins the road leading to Le Cours, whose bell tower can be seen a few hundred metres further on to the right. Head into the village.
(13) Cross it and then head south along the D139 until you reach the hamlet of Kerlogne.
(14) On the descent, don’t miss the road branching off to the left towards Kerlogne, Kerbernard and on to Caranné.
(15) In the centre of the hamlet, take the path on the right, at the corner of No. 2, and continue along the road then onto a track to reach a new valley. Head up this valley to the left, following a sometimes stony track through the woods, until you reach the crossroads at a place called La Pierre Rousse.
(16) At the crossroads, take the small road immediately on the right, towards Le Labouro, which heads due south towards the Arz valley. Pass Chez les Simon, then arrive at a crossroads.
(17) Continue left along the small road that runs along a balcony above the river, serving several villages and hamlets, including Kerbédo.
(18) Carry on and, at the four-way junction, turn left towards Molac. Cross the bridge under the D5, then turn right after crossing it. Reach the village of Molac by climbing up a small wooded valley.
(19) Walk past the church, then turn right, then immediately left and leave the village via Rue De Lattre de Tassigny. Then cross the village of Quinquizio to take the small road which narrows as it passes under the greenway.
(20) Let yourself glide down again until you reach the Arz and the Carjafrédo Bridge. A steep climb awaits you once more as you head back up towards this village and then the next one, Lindeul. At the crossroads, turn right to pass in front of the chapel.
(21) Continue along the same road until you approach the hamlet of Le Guernet. Take the greenway, a beautifully developed former railway line that winds through a lovely wooded, steep-sided valley.
(22) Pass the hamlet of Quescop and then that of Pomplex, where chicanes slow cyclists down. A final wooded section precedes the end of this greenway.
(23) Leave the cycle path on the right to reach a car park and the road leading to Questembert racecourse. Then turn left to complete the circular route and reach the Bel-Air crossroads, just a stone’s throw away (S/E).
