Start at the Côte Vermeille in Banyuls-sur-Mer. Park near the Tourist Office. The starting point is at the Town Hall, where you will find theGR®®10sign (Traversée des Pyrénées Banyul-Handaye).
Thefirst part of this hike will be on theGR®®10, marked in red and white.
(S/E) Start on Avenue Général de Gaulle, then turn right and takethe second left onto Avenue du Puig del Mas. Continue on theGR®®10, which, a few metres later, takes Impasse Val Pompo, to the right of Avenue du Puig del Mas.
(1) Continue on theGR®®10, which passes under a railway bridge (tunnel).Caution: reduced visibility and vehicle traffic (infrequent). Turn right shortly after this passage under the railway line and arrive at Coll de les Vignes.
(2) Cross the road and continue along the path opposite, which will take you to Col de Llagastera in about 2 km, where you will find an orientation table and a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea.
(3) Stay on the road (GR®®10) for 100 m before turning left, just after the farmhouse, onto the path at the right-hand bend in the road.
(4) This path joins a yellow-marked path.
(5) Continue left, downhill, along the vineyards. Join a track suitable for vehicles. Follow it to the right and arrive at the Chapel of Notre-Dame de la Salette (La Seleta), where there is a magnificent 360° view, including the Madeloc Tower.
(6) Begin the descent to Banyuls, following the yellow markings. You will come to a restored terrace with trees on your right.
(7) Then join the concrete road of Cami de la Salette, which you descend to the left to reach the D86 further down, where you will find the Mas d'en Reig Tower near a recently renovated picnic area.
(8) At the left-hand bend, leave the D86 road and take the path on the right onto Cami Ramader, which runs alongside the wine cellars, continuing to follow the yellow markings. The tarmac ends. Continue along a stony path and then a concrete staircase that leads to the gendarmerie.
(9) Join Rue Amiral Vilarem. Turn right onto it to rejoin the D86, where you will continue to the right.
Continue along this road for a few metres, turn left, pass under the railway line and stay on Avenue Général de Gaulle to return to the Town Hall and finish your walk (S/E).
