Departure from the tourist office on Place du Champ de Foire. Markings: purple line.
(S/E) Head towards Montluçon (with your back to the square, walk past the tourist office window) until you reach the traffic lights. Turn left towards Saint-Amand. After about 300 metres, you will see a staircase on your right.
(1) The staircase will take you to the old railway line and the viaduct.
(2) When you reach a small tarmac road, turn right. Continue until you reach the Montluçon road, cross (be careful, this is a busy road) and go down opposite the Garde de Dieu. Cross the "Roman" bridge and you will arrive at Place Vercingétorix.
(3) Turn right into Rue du Puits Grimé, where you will find a staircase on your right (along the wall) that will take you to the castle esplanade. Walk up Rue George Sand (with your back to the castle gate, first on the right) to Rue de l'Église.
Turn left and continue to Place Saint-Ursin (the town hall) and the traffic light junction. Turn left and follow the road to Place du Champ de Foire (S/E).
