By car, you can park in the car park at the entrance to the village of Farena, which is the starting point of the walk.
As you enter the village, take a concrete path on the left which runs alongside houses and passes under a flower-covered arbour. At the end of this short stretch, the trail begins and descends gently to a track leading to the first of the mills on the River El Brugent. This mill is privately owned and inaccessible; it appears to belong to an association.
Continue along the path (Ruta dels molins), occasionally following the dry riverbed and crossing several wooden footbridges. There are regular signs pointing the way and indicating the various ruined mills that line the river, bearing witness to the significant activity that once took place in this now-abandoned area (Moli del Castella, Moli del Po o del Cristi, Moli del Fort).
The final approach to the Congost or Toll de l’Esqueix is not easy, as you have to climb over boulders near the river and use your hands to help. Once at the Congost, there are two successive footbridges that normally allow you to cross the river and continue along the path towards El Pintell. However, these footbridges are reported to be in poor condition and are theoretically off-limits. The return to Farena is therefore via the same route as the outward journey, although there is a possible alternative at the crossing point (1) where a fork in the path allows you to return to Farena via a different route in 35 minutes.
