Description of the route

This mountain bike route is signposted with the standard signs (two small circles and a Yellow Triangle), but many signs have disappeared from the route. This route is rated red.
Park in the central square, near the church (shops).

(S/E) Head towards the Carrefour de l’Étoile via a downhill road (Rue du 8 mai 1945). Pass the small hamlets on your right and left until you reach a right-hand bend.

(1) Leave the road and head straight ahead (a bit of a climb!). Return to the road and continue to the Stop sign. Take the road on the right. Pass a water tower on the left and continue to the crossroads at a place called Les Larrys.

(2) First turn left then right to take a small path that runs alongside the road and then veers off towards the forest. You’ll come out onto the Sainte-Anne forest road; take it to the left until you reach the Tranchée des Cannes, a wide path that runs diagonally to the right (forest timber yard).

(3) Follow this track, which narrows and becomes harder to follow. Keep going straight on until you reach a wetland.

(4) Go round L’Étang de Moussuette along its left bank (rugged terrain with tree roots). Then follow a wider path leading to the Tranchée des Grandes Ventes. Walk about a hundred metres to the right.

(5) Turn left onto a steep (very short) path, which crosses several forest tracks. Follow this path as it turns left into the Tranchée du Sentier Pierreux before reaching a small road.

(6) Take this road to the right as far as Randonnai. You will arrive at the stadium.

(7) First turn right then left onto a small street, Rue de l’Étang Gaillon, slightly off the stadium junction. Turn left to go round L’Étang des Gaillons on its right bank and go up the small road on the left. Start a fairly long stretch of road, passing in front of the Domaine des Étangs. At the junction (elevation 248), turn left and continue along the road until you reach a forest track.

(8) Turn right onto it and you’ll come out onto the Route Forestière de Conturbie. Continue to the Carrefour de l’Étoile du Perche, which is a junction of eight forest tracks.

(9) Take the first right.

(10) Turn right onto the Chemin du Renard and start a short circular loop through the forest and along the edge, leading to La Cherchinerie (Bresolettes and its clearing are very close by). Return to the road on the left, follow the Étang de la Forge and continue to a sharp left-hand bend.

(11) Take the lovely path on the right which runs alongside the Étangs du Cachot and du Gré, then leads onto the Route Forestière de Prépotin.

(12) Follow it to the left (a small hairpin bend uphill) to the Carrefour aux Loups trench.

(13) Turn right and follow this straight trench to the ford.

(14) Continue left along a winding path. You’ll come out onto the D32.

(15) Cross it (be careful, it’s a busy road) and immediately take the path on the left. Follow this path, which runs parallel to the D32, to the hamlet of Les Coudrais.

(16) Turn left to rejoin the D32. Follow it for a few metres to the left before turning right. Turn right again, then left at La Vigne.

(17) Turn right again, then take your last left-right turn before coming out onto a track suitable for vehicles.

(18) Turn right and follow it down to the junction with the D32. Turn left to enter Tourouvre and you’ll find the car park where you started on the left after about 300m (S/E).

I did this as a walking tour. It’s magnificent in good weather; the ponds are magical.
Difficult to find your way at the start (I went the wrong way round).
