Park behind the church in Ault.
Go down Grande Rue to the seafront. Turn left onto Rue Ernest Jamart (1) and take the path that climbs up the cliff. Continue right on this short hiking trail (PR®), marked in yellow, to the Bois de Cise.
Enter the woods (2) via the Route des Mouettes and follow it downhill. To save time, take the Sentier des Muses and join the central roundabout (3). Climb up the other side via the Allée du Muguet, which leads to the Route des Tilleuls. Turn right here. At a sharp bend, you can continue to the viewpoint (4), which is well signposted.
After admiring the view, go back up a little to the left to rejoin the path, which is still marked in yellow. This takes you out of the Bois de Cise and onto the D940E (5), which leads to the D940. Once on the D940, turn right (south) and continue for 300 metres until you reach a hotel restaurant. There (6), cross the road and take the path opposite for about 1.5 km. This is Rue des Casernes. At the end (7), turn right into Rue de l'Église de St-Quentin-la-Motte-Croix-au-Bailly. At the end of this street (rue de l'église), turn left onto the D63 (or rue de bas) and after 50 metres (8), turn right onto rue du charron. Cross Rue du Trinvil and take Rue du Stade opposite. 80 m before the end of Rue du Stade (9), turn left onto a path that runs alongside houses on the left and fields on the right. After 1.2 km on this path (10), turn left onto a path that crosses the D63. Opposite, take another path that leaves the village and offers a view of the sea. This path, through fields, leads to the D940 (11), which you cross to continue opposite on a path that leads to the cemetery in Ault. All that remains is to go down the street that takes you back to the church in Ault and its car park.
