Departure from the small car park at the foot of the church in Vatilieu.
(S/E) Leave the church and head west down the main road. Pass the town hall and turn left. You will see a satellite dish with a sign at the bottom.
(1) Take the path towards "Le Tréry 0.8km" in the middle of a field. Be careful, as the path quickly becomes overgrown with hay and may appear to turn to the right. Continue straight ahead even if the path is not clearly visible. The path runs alongside a wood and then descends steeply into it.
(2) You will come to a small paved road (sign for Le Tréry - 457m). Turn left. Ignore a small road that climbs up to the left. Continue along the road through the valley (Route de la Combe).
(3) You will arrive at the sign for "L'Égala - 441m". Go up steeply to the right, towards "Champ Floux". At the next fork, take the left-hand branch (Route de Révolore). The road climbs steeply. Continue along this small road until the end.
(4) You will arrive at the hamlet of Révolore (wooden sign with two coloured discs). Take the grassy path on your left (follow the yellow markings to Champs Floux). After a while, at a fork, take the right-hand branch. You will leave the walnut trees behind and climb into the forest. You will come to a T-junction; turn left (yellow signpost). You will come out onto a meadow; turn left.
(5) You will come to a small road, next to a new house. Take the road on the right. Pass a house on your left. A little further on, take the path that climbs up to your right (old gate + yellow signpost). Ignore the path that comes in from the left.
(6) You will arrive at the sign for "Champs Floux - 753m". Take the small road on the right. The asphalt gives way to a gravel road.
(7) You will see the sign for "Les Chargeons - 735m". Take the dirt track opposite, towards the crossroads of the 4 communes. At a fork, take the right-hand branch (yellow signpost). At the next fork, take the left-hand branch.
(8) You will arrive at the sign for "Carrefour des 4 communes - 765m". Turn sharp right towards Les Communaux. You are now going downhill (don't worry, it will go uphill again later...). Ignore the two paths that join yours (one on the right, the other on the left).
(9) You will arrive at the sign for "Les Communaux - 700m" (be careful, it is on the left, high up. It is easy to miss...). Go straight ahead towards the Croix du Plâtre, taking the small tarmac road that continues through the walnut trees (Route des Ferrières). You will arrive at a road, at a crossroads (signposted "Les Ferrières - 619m"). Turn left, but first take the time to look at the first sculpture at the foot of the "Les Ferrières" sign.
(10) Very soon, you will see the sign for "La Croix du Plâtre - 619m". Go up the dirt track on your right. At the fork immediately after, turn right. The road climbs steeply... Leave the first path on your left and take the next one. There are sculptures on both sides of the path until you reach the cemetery.
(11) When you reach the embankment at the foot of the cemetery, take the grassy path that descends to the right. This will take you directly back to the church in Vatilieu (S/E).
