Start from Place du Champ de Foire in Maillezais, Rue du Champ de Foire.
This walk is signposted all along the route by a green sign depicting a man in a boat.
(S/E) From the car park, head to the church forecourt. Take the D15 opposite, towards Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Mallezais, then turn left towards Doix (one-way). Follow the D68.
(1) Walk past the abbey and head for a bridge over a canal at the end of the bend to the left of the road.
(2) Turn left onto the path that runs alongside the canal and head towards a lock at the junction of several canals.
(3) Cross the bridge over the canal, then turn immediately right and proceed to a Stop sign in the Saint-Nicolas district. Continue left and, at the 90° left-hand bend on the D25, turn right, going round the church on the right.
(4) At the end of the square, turn right onto Grand Rue. Leave the village, cross the bridge over the Canal de Bourneau and follow it to your left.
(5) Cross the D15 road and continue along the canal until you reach the D25 at Grande Bernegoue.
(6) Continue to the right, cross the bridge over a canal and you will soon reach a small road on the right.
(7) Take the sharp right-hand bend onto this road, which is closed to goods vehicles. Reach the junction a few metres after No. 30, opposite the boundary wall of No. 28.
(8) Turn right towards La Barbée, and at the next junction, just before the hamlet, turn left.
(9) At the four-way junction, turn right. Enter Damvix, then turn right opposite the War Memorial and head towards the church.
(10) Turn right, then immediately keep left to follow the canal. Follow the canal on your right until you reach a wooden footbridge over the Sèvre Niortaise at Coin de Chambrun.
(11) Turn left towards the village centre, leave the hamlet, ignore a dead-end on the left, turn left a few metres further on and reach the next junction.
(12) Turn 90° left and follow the path through the marsh.
(13) At the canal, turn right and follow the canal until you reach the junction just after No. 5.
(14) Cross the bridge over the canal and arrive at a fork near Mazeau Town Hall. Turn right onto Rue Principale.
(15) At the junction with the D104, follow it to the left towards Sainte-Christine, then turn left after 200 m onto Chemin des Groies, towards Saint-Sigismond, and arrive at a junction with a wayside cross.
(16) Turn onto the track on the right and continue through the fields; then, in Saint-Sigismond, carry on straight ahead until you reach the junction behind the church.
(17) Turn right and follow the D68 to the crossroads a few metres past La Ragée.
(18) Turn left towards Anchais and, at the hamlet, turn left onto Chemin du Port d'Anchais. Continue along the road, pass through the hamlet of Boille and take thefirst road on the left just before a house and a crossroad.
(19) Turn left. Pass a path on the right, then a road on the left, and arrive at a four-way junction.
(20) Turn right, pass through the hamlet of Aubigny, then take the road on the left and continue to Maillezais. At Route de Maille, turn right and head towards the church (S/E).
