Caher Mountain loop starting from Killcrohane

The route follows various trails (Sheep'shead Way, Seefin Loop, Farranamanagh Loop). Climb up Caher Mountain, then take the ridge trail to descend and return to the starting point via the road. Very well signposted.

Description of the walk

From Killcrohane, follow the road east to a junction, take the small road that climbs north, follow this road to a farm where the Farranamanagh Loop Walk trail is signposted and well marked. The trail goes around a property at one point and begins to climb and is marked as Seefin Loop.

Found on the trail (early July): a caterpillar of the small emperor moth Saturnia pavonia (small emperor moth — Wikipedia) and Enallagma cyathigerum damselflies swarming around the small pond at the end of the descent (between points 4 and 5).
