Description of the walk

Departure from the Chutes Jean Larose car park, Boulevard de Neiges in Beaupré.

(S/E) From the side of the car park, take the path that leads into the forest. At the crossroads, turn left onto the Jean Larose Circular, which winds through the forest. Continue until you reach the hairpin bend.

(1) Head south along the straight path, then turn left at the end, cross a small stream and continue on the Jean Larose Circular until you reach the intersection with the Le Mestashib trail.

(2) Follow it to the right. The trail winds through the forest, eventually turning east and reaching a crossroads near the Jean-Larose River.

(3) Go up to the right, still on Le Mestashibo. Continue up to the Jean Larose Falls.

(4) After admiring the site, return to the Mestashibo trail and take the stairs. There are platforms offering different views of the falls. Continue along the trail, at the top near the edge of the forest. Do not follow the trail that branches off to the right, but go straight ahead to exit the trees and climb the embankment to reach Boulevard du Beau-Pré.

(5) Follow it to the left. Then turn right onto Avenue Royale until you reach the large Mont Sainte-Anne car park.

(6) Go left along the car park and then behind the buildings. At the end ofthe second building, go completely right onto the Sentier Coupe du Monde, then turn left shortly afterwards onto the small gravel path that passes under the "Les Pionniers" cable car. Immediately afterwards, turn right onto the "La Crête" trail. Pass "La Traverse" on your right, then "La Beauregard" on your left. Continue climbing until you reach the "Panorama" trail, which you should take to the right. This leads to the summit.

(7) At the small building, turn right and continue for a few hundred metres to the summit of Mont Sainte-Anne.

(8) Go around the buildings on the left. A small tower allows you to climb a little higher for a better view of the panorama. The descent follows the easy trail (orange signs), called "Beaupré", then "Dolce Vita". Leave "Antre du Dragon" on your right, cross "Express" and take "Richard", following it all the way down.

(9) At the bottom of the trails, go left and cross the car park to reach Avenue Royale, which you follow to the left until you reach the Jean-Larose River.

(10) Cross the bridge and turn right onto the path immediately after. Follow it to Boulevard des Neiges, then cross to the opposite side. At the crossroads, continue left to return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Refreshments are available at the foot of the slopes.

For the Mont Sainte-Anne section, we did the hike in the direction described. The climb is quite steep and you have to turn around to see the view. The descent is along the slopes, which are less steep but there is no view because of the trees.
So, if you like the challenge of a steep climb, go for it, otherwise reverse the Mont Sainte-Anne section. Finally, for those who don't feel like walking up, the cable car operates in summer. Many people take their mountain bikes up on it.
