Chjassu di u Cunventu in Farinole

The Chjassu di u Cunventu is a village loop trail that allows you to discover Farinole and its breathtaking landscapes. Starting from the Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian, the route passes through the village before reaching the maquis. It runs alongside the Marianda convent, then takes a panoramic path from which you can see the marina and the Genoese tower of Farinole. Finally, the path rejoins the forest canopy before returning to the village.

Description of the walk

Park near the Church of Saint-Côme and Saint-Damien.

(S/E) From the church, take the road on the right that runs along a stone wall until you reach a Genoese bridge.

(1) Continue along the road and take the uphill path that runs alongside an old mill until you come back out onto the road, opposite a fountain.

(2) Follow the road uphill, cross the hamlet and continue walking along the road until you see a large sign in a bend on your left. At the sign, there is a path that leads under the trees.

(3) Take the path on the left under the trees and continue until you reach the old Marianda convent.

(4) Continue along the path. Leave the fork on the right with the reservoir, then go straight ahead twice and you will reach a ridge. On the way, you will pass a landscape information board.

(5) Continue to the right and arrive at the Pianellu stream, passing a first stream and then a fork.

(6) Continue along the path that leads back to the hamlet of Bracolaccia, then, if you wish, take the small steps on your right and continue a few metres along the road to the Funtana vechja (old fountain).

(7) Retrace your steps slightly by going back up the steps and finish crossing the village on the right. Cross the road and continue straight ahead until you reach the Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian (S/E).

Worth a visit

The Chjassu di u Cunventu is one of the trails opened and developed by the Grand Site de France Conca d'Oru, Patrimonio vineyard - Gulf of Saint-Florent in 2025, as part of the implementation of its "soft mobility plan". The aim of this plan is to develop soft and active mobility in the area, for an immersive and unique experience.

To find out more about the Grand Site, we invite you to visit our Maison du Grand Site, a scenographic space open to the public and located in the port of Saint-Florent!

Not to be missed during the hike
- The Church of Saint-Côme and Saint-Damien: dating fromthe 17th century, this church is located on a ridge below the hamlet of Bracolacce. Inside, you can admire a beautiful statue of the Virgin Mary and penitents.
- The Convent of Marianda: in 1606, during the papacy of Pope Paul V, the legal foundation of the Franciscan convent of Marianda was established. Work continued until 1671, then resumed from 1702 to 1750. The convent was built thanks to donations and bequests from the inhabitants of Farinole, Patrimonio and Barbaggio. The walls of the convent, now in ruins, still bear witness to its majesty and its location in the magnificent panorama.
- The Genoese tower of Farinole: from the panoramic part of the trail, don't miss the Genoese tower of Farinole, located below, at the level of the village marina. A listed historical monument, it was built in 1562 and remained in use until the end of the 17th century. Now owned by the municipality of Farinole, it is the last Genoese tower still standing in the Grand Site.

The walk is pleasant.
The elevation gain indicated seems incorrect, as I recorded almost 600 metres.
On two or three occasions, the Visorando trail deviated from the marked path, for example, going around the monastery on the left instead of the right.

A very beautiful hike, mostly shaded, with an interesting but relatively easy elevation gain, even with children. Numerous viewpoints over the bay of Saint Florent are a wonderful reward. The route is very well signposted. It took us 2 hours, without pushing ourselves.

A magnificent hike that we highly recommend. Several remarkable viewpoints, a route that alternates between sun and shade. Don't hesitate 😉
