Description of the walk

This walk takes you on a journey of discovery through the magnificent countryside around Bonneville, Thon-Samson and Maizeret. Please note that the paths are often stony, so bring horse shoes if your horses are not shod. You start your journey in Bonneville, in the historic heart of the village, between Saint-Firmin Church, Bonneville Castle, Dhuy Farm and Cense de Jandren. The streets and paths take you to Thon-Samson, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Wallonia. Don't hesitate to walk up the main street to the unmissable Château-Ferme de Thon. You will also notice the listed houses, the presbytery and the Church of Saint-Remi. Your walk continues in the lower part of the village, towards the Samson Valley, where you carefully join the Chaussée de Gramptinne. You quickly leave it and set off to explore the other side of the valley, towards Maizeret. You will find paths through the fields at a place called Villenval before reaching the Bois d'Herpet. You are now on a short section of the GR®575, which takes you to Gesves. You reach the Samson Valley before crossing the road again and climbing up through Try de Goyet to the magnificent viewpoint of the Chapelle du Fond d'El Côre. You continue along the Bois du Jeune Chesnoy before returning to Bonneville. You will circle the village via the small streets and climb back up towards the hamlet of Chaudin. Paths will finally lead you to the Bois de Friet before descending back towards the centre of Bonneville, where you will return to your starting point.
