Description of the walk

Start in Saint-Rémy-de-Blot, at the car park by the town hall, the tourist office and the fire station.

Blue-marked walk

(S/E) Behind the town hall, take the path leading uphill (north).

(1) After skirting a wood on your right, take the dirt track on the right and follow it down to the stream.

(2) Cross the stream, then head left towards Câteau Rocher and join the D109.

(3) Turn left onto the D109. Although this road is quiet, watch out for cars on the bends for 400 m until you reach the next path.

(4) At the car park, turn left onto a path through the woods.

(5) Head right towards the ruins of Château-Rocher and the view over the Sioule Gorges and the Menat Bridge. Feel free to explore the castle ruins if they are open. Return to the path and continue to the nearby viewpoint, which is again to the right of the main path.

(6) Follow the road towards Blot Rocher. Continue along a path heading due south to reach the junction from the outward journey.

(1) Continue along the reverse route of the outward journey to return to the town hall car park (S/E).

A lovely little walk.
We start with the descent down to the river and then head back up to the ruins.

A family hike with children of all ages; we enjoyed the section through the forest leading down to the stream and back up again; as for the view upon reaching the ruined castle, it is magnificent, as is the sweeping vista over the bend in the Sioule. In autumn, it must be even more beautiful...
