By the hills and dales around Belmont-sur-Rance

In the shade of the pink sandstone collegiate church and the surrounding woods, a peaceful escape on bushy paths, mills and hamlets, forest trails wind their way along the river Rance.
Yellow markings and a ford on the Rance.
⚠️To be avoided in periods of heavy rain, otherwise one passes at ease by taking off one's shoes.

Description of the walk

Start : Front of the collegiate church, Belmont-sur-Rance.

(S/E) From the collegiate church (A), take the Rue de l'Église on the left, at the crossroads turn left and continue on the Chemin du Sériguet which leads to the chapel of the same name.

(1) At the chapel, take the path on the right (South-East) that goes down into the Bois de Colrès and leads to the D113 (1.3 Km).

(2) Continue to the left (North-East), on the road (D113) for 600 m.

(3) Turn right (South), cross the bridge and go towards the Moulin du Crouzet. Continue and cross the ford on the Rance. (Be careful after heavy rain).

(4) Go up the path that winds through the woods until you reach the place called "Les Pescayres". At the end of the wood, follow the field for about 100 m.

(5) Before the farm, take the road right (North-West) towards Viala (1.2 Km).

(7) At the end of the wood, turn left (North-West) before the river, ignoring the Moulin de Candelier on the right.

(8) Continue along the left bank of the river on the path parallel to the river until you reach the entrance of the village. Go back to the centre of the village by the medieval bridge =on the right (West) and join the Rue de l'Église and the collegiate church (S/E).

A walk for the pleasure of walking, without any particular interest...but the tour of the town is well worth it...
