Start: Park in the fantails waterfalls car park.
(S/E) Leave the car park near the entrance to find a good path to the wooden footbridge leading to the river. Cross it where you feel most comfortable. The hike starts on the other side, at the Orange Triangle waymarker. A large step at the triangle, or smaller ones a few metres downstream, then begins the steep ascent through the roots.
(1) After 300 m of ascent, a flat spot allows you to take some breath, then the ascent starts again, just as steep.
(2) Leave the bush, and continue climbing through low vegetation.
(3) Reach the Brewster Hut to go to the glacier and continue behind the Hut, towards the sign indicating the end of the Brewster path. The rest of the hike is waymarked by cairns and is quite visible until you reach the lakes.
(4) One of the last cairns you'll need to look out for if you want to take the same path on the way back. From here, you'll have to wander over rocky slabs to get close to the glacier and the lakes.
Walk around these beauties and return to the last cairn.
(4) Then follow the route in reverse to the car park (S/E).
