Description of the route

Start from the car park: Art et Vie, next to the D 207.

(S/E) Take the cycle path towards Bombannes. You’ll reach the junction: Bas de l’Ombrière.

(1) Take the track on the right.

(2) At the Pointe de Coben roundabout, continue straight ahead until you reach the Bombannes junction.

(3) Follow the road to the left. Ride past the Dunes holiday village on your right until you reach a three-way junction.

(4) Turn right, then, a few metres further on, take the cycle path branching off to the right. Follow this, ignoring the turnings on either side, until you reach the Route des Phares.

(5) At the junction, carry on straight ahead, then turn left about a hundred metres further on and follow the cycle path to the Crohot des Cavalles Forest House.

(6) Follow the concrete track that branches off to the left towards Carcans-Plage. Follow this for 3 km until you reach a cross-track.

We did this mountain bike ride at the end of June; it wasn’t too busy. A lovely ride through the pine woods with the cicadas! It’s best to bring mountain bikes – some of the concrete sections are in very poor condition! In places, you can no longer follow the track as the route must have been altered, but you won’t get lost.

A lovely walk on a Saturday in October with very, very few people about.
We didn’t stick strictly to the route; we carried on past the Pointe de Bonbannes, but I wouldn’t recommend doing so:

A lovely cycle ride to do, if possible, outside the summer rush; you can leave your bikes at a spot known as ‘La Cabane’ and walk to the beach – there are wooden bike racks there.
