To get to the starting point (the boat landing stage at the Lespinasse bridge in Tursac) from Les Eyzies de Tayac Sireuil: leave the village towards Sarlat, then take the D706 towards Montignac; pass through the village of Tursac and, at the exit, take the road towards the bridge on the left and, just before the bridge, take the path on the left.
(S/E) Cross the bridge and follow the tarmac road uphill to the third junction (Chemin du Ruth).
(1) Turn right onto the signposted path which follows the GR®36. Ignore one junction. There is a beautiful view over the Vézère valley and the Maison Forte de Reignac. Cross a stream and arrive at the houses of Sous le Ruth.
(2) The path leaves the GR® before the Ruth ore deposit, 2 km from the starting point (possible link to Le Moustier). Then enter the woods and follow the path which climbs to the left. Stay on this side all the way to the stream and keep left to reach another junction.
(3) Ignore the sign for the “short route” and carry on straight ahead until the next fork.
(4) Follow the signposting to the right (possible link to Fleurac). In La Petite Forêt, the path climbs again and joins the tarmac road.
(5) Turn left and walk alongside the road for about a hundred metres before entering the woods again on the right. At the forest track, turn right. This track descends to a junction near the Madeleine site.
(6) To return to the Lespinasse bridge, take the tarmac road on the left. Continue to the bridge, then back to the starting point by turning right onto the bridge (S/E).
